Copenhagen Day 21 and driving to the airport I thought, I don’t see any difference to the trips I have done before to Leeds Bradford Airport, the M62 was equally as empty, the arrival at the car parking was standard as was the parking of the car and the boarding of the bus to take me to the terminal. I checked in as normal and proceeded to security where things did differ a little. I emptied my pockets and removed all the clothing required by the security personnel and walked through the door frame that doubles as a detector of some kind. The alarms were raised I was ushered quickly, in fact rather enthusiastically quickly to a patting down area. I was then subjected a rather intimate frisking. The heavily bearded chap didn’t half press his fingers in certain places and I got the feeling he kind of like his job. After a good minute of this I was passed fit to be allowed to board a plane but had no idea what had set off the alarms. I think this was mainly due to been the first couple of people through security this morning and the enthusiasm for the role was still evident in his actions and finger marks.
And to round off my experience of Leeds Bradford this morning, my coffee was not very warm, you would think for £2.69 a cup it would be hot. Bet you can tell who’s a Mr Grumpy Pants this morning. I hope I can get some sleep on the plane and wake up in a better frame of mind for work.
You may be able to tell but I write this blog in small chunks, basically wherever I get change to open the laptop when I have a few minutes wait. I am now at Amsterdam Schiphol after the short flight from Leeds, made even shorter by my sleep, I missed the free food and drink on the plane but sometimes you have to make personal sacrifices. The present time is 09:50 central European time and I have two hours to wait for my next flight boarding time, so I took a slow walk to the gate looking at the shops in the airport and noticed the sheer volume of people eating. I don’t think all these people are actually hungry but bored, I believe it’s true, I was walking up to the gate and there are coffee shops and stuff and actually thought hmm I’ll buy a coffee but then thought I don’t actually want one, it is boredom that is causing me to think of buying something to drink or eat. Anyhow I had a look around a shop and saw some cheap milka chocolate bars, not cheap exactly but you start to think anything that isn’t extortionate as cheap. So I bought the kids a big bar of milka each but I am going to use it as a test. I am not planning to give it to them until they ask and they will only know they have something if they read the blog. I will give them a week and if they don’t ask then the dog is going to get a treat, well he’s going to get a treat anyway as I have bought him one also. I cannot get the kids one and not the biggest kid of all and the best, that’ll teach em not to read the blog.
