Two things greeted me this morning, sun blasting through the net curtain of the room which was a nice change and a throbbing little finger. On the finger front first, the swelling has declined but the pain is still there every time I move or catch it. So was looking forward to a mass handshaking day ahead.
It was also nice to see that almost all the snow had melted as I emerged from the hotel, today was a day for emerging and not just simply leaving. So I emerged from the hotel and emerged into my car as I had to take my own car to the office today as my German colleague was leaving as soon as we finished work and therefore he emerged his own car and shot off to the airport. But back to the day, had a few meetings and it was decided I would be here in Dunkirk for another two weeks which is not too bad as I actually got to the office without the aid of the Satnav and with only a minor signalling error when I nearly turned down the wrong road but rectified at the last minute to the derision of the lady driver behind me and who gave me a long hard stare as she overtook in her battered old Citroen which I noticed was so battered the boot wouldn’t shut properly. I forgave her lack of patience as I realised with the boot flapping open the exhaust fumes will be going back into the car and she will probably be dead from some sort of carbon monoxide poisoning pretty soon, so I bid her a farewell and glad that this was one person I wouldn’t have to shake hands with.
Today was really quiet at work as my departing colleague departed even earlier than planned as he went sick, my two Spanish colleagues decided to go work in another site at the other side of Dunkirk and my fellow English colleague worked in another office as he said he had a lot of meetings, so I spent most of the day on my own which at least allowed me to get a fair bit of work done.
So tomorrow is my travel day which is now evolving into a do a bit of work and then belt to the airport for my travel home, but I cant complain as I am enjoying this project. It wont be easy as we go forward but projects very seldom are.
After work I got back to the hotel at nearly 7.00 p.m. local time and as there is no one around I have stayed in my room and watched a double bill of football. Tottenham have just won and now Chelsea are on another channel and seem to be doing well so I think it will be watch that and then head to bed so that I can be up early, to the office, do what I have to do and then get off to the airport.
Finally on the finger front, it has been hurting but the lack of company in the office has meant a handshake free day today and that must have helped its recovery.
