The return trip home today but before I did that I was up nice and early and that meant I had some time before I went down for breakfast. Therefore I decided to take a look at the photos of the horses in the room. I noticed a couple of things; one was a little too strange. It was like a photo of a horse that was intended to make it look sexy and then finally I noticed that two of the photos were exactly the same therefore there was only 105 different horse photographs hung in my room. I put the photos on the blog below.
As you can see I had a lot of time to waste before breakfast was due to be taken and the time to head off to Timasoara International Airport, I suppose it was called international as it did do flights to Munich in Germany. Before we got to the airport we had one more thing to do and that was negotiating the road system. I have not said before but the journey to the airport is three hours and with not a motorway or dual carriageway in site. Just single roads with plenty of twists and turns, but don’t think that does not deter the motorists of Romania from trying to overtake every opportunity they had. We were only a few minutes into the journey when I had to slam the anchors on and put the car as close to a ditch as possible as a lorry was heading on our side of the road in the process of overtaking another lorry, at least he thanked me as he nearly annihilated us. All the way through the journey was a constant look out for cars on our side of the road who would take any gap in the traffic to get past just one more car.
But this does not take from our trip this week and the lovely countryside we have seen, the totally different culture and once we got to know some locals the real friendliness of them. We had a lovely talk with the owner of the hotel and she explained that people are still coming out of the old times and it will take time to trust people again but that will come and when it does the people of Romania will be a very friendly bunch and I expect I will be going back as my project kicks off into deployment mode and I am looking forward to it.
Maybe I will also get chance to take Gillian to the country to show her around if I can find a flight cheap enough. So as far as Romania is concerned it is
