Today has been a bit of a waste really, it was work as usual today but it has been one of those days that proved to be much busier than normal and so instead of heading out on my last night in Lithuania, I had to get some work completed and that meant I missed the concert that I was hoping to go and see. With this time zone being two hours ahead of the UK it means that meetings called at 17:00 are done at 19:00 local time and this has been the case today.
I love to travel and realise that work allows me to visit such really nice places such as Vilnius but occasionally that work also means that I don’t get as much free time as I would like as sometimes deadlines loom and work must be done and today was one of these days.
Perhaps if I had been here with a colleague then it may have persuaded me to get out there but as I am on my own then it is too easy to think, I will just get this done and that done and before you know where you are it is night and time to go to bed.
Looking back at what I have managed to see I would say that Vilnius is a nice, I would like to say city but it is more like a town. There is plenty to see and if someone likes seeing architecture and in particular churches then this is an area that must be visited. With cheap flights available from the UK it must make this area very accessible to people wanting a short break but on the way here I noticed that the vast majority of people on the plane seemed to be locals perhaps heading home, certainly everyone around me and my seat were from Lithuania as you could not here any English been spoken. It will be interesting to see what nationality seem to be heading back to the UK tomorrow afternoon when I complete another week on the road.
The hotel I chose was a very nice classy hotel albeit a little more expensive as the other slightly cheaper ones, but after walking past them looked just as good, were fully booked up. Not by Brits I may add but I was told that Polish and other eastern European neighbours visit this country as it has good shopping and plenty to see.
So tonight is a quick blog and time for bed.
Goodnight All
