Day 7 was a different day entirely. Firstly the snow had been pretty bad during the night so when I left the hotel at 8:30 the ground was covered and the few vehicles moving around had only compacted the snow and not cleared it. The hotel is only 4 miles from the office but it took almost 30 minutes to drive it. It became apparent that the poor French had not heard of grit so it was a very hairy drive (adults will get that joke as I am in France). Every time I braked, the car slid another two or three feet forward and I was not going fast. Every time I started to move the wheels spun even though I was doing the 2nd gear thing. It was a difficult drive. But the worst was still to come.
Almost at work I saw it, the fourth horseman of the apocalypse, forget your myan calendar or the other end of the world predictions, I know it is about to come true. The end of the world is neigh. The four horses of the apocalypse are, famine pestilence, plague and I saw the fourth, a closed down McDonalds. A sight like that was too shocking for words, but there it was, all boarded up. Is there any point in carrying on I bet your thinking but we don’t quite know when it’ll happen we just know it will.
Then at work I had no network access all day so my job for the night was to get back to the hotel and do all the work I couldn’t do through the day, but it is something to do whilst having football on in the background.
A short update today I’m afraid as there is more work to be done and I want to get a good night sleep ready for another snow battle on the way to work tomorrow.
