Today started off as any normal day, the sun was shining through the drapes of the hotel window at 7.30 as I awoke from my slumber, moaned, turned over and cursed the day, then decided I needed the loo so got out of bed.
As normal as soon as I awake and complete any urgent actions, I then move to my PC to check the emails and my first email of the day was to confirm that I need to be in France tomorrow. Which meant the next couple of hours frantically booking everything and it is amazing to think what you need to book, hotel, hire car, car parking for airport, flight, and even car parking at the hotel. With that all done it was time to start today's work and therefore I got ready and hit Stratford station for a train to Liverpool St Station.
The next 8 hours passed at work in the cucumber and as said before, nothing interesting happened, zilch, nil, naught, denada, nothing at all.
But it was soon time to head for the tube and the journey back to Kings Cross for my 17:50 back to northern civilization.
I have one question about the replacement bus service they are providing from Doncaster to Goole, why do they manage to time the buses so perfectly that each one leaves just 5 minutes before the London train arrives, although this does give the hoards of people waiting for the Grimsby, Scunthorpe and Goole buses something to moan about whilst we wait the 55 minutes for the next bus and then chuckle thinking of the next set of London train passengers that will be wandering up to the bus stop to find the bus has just departed and they have to wait 55 minutes. At least the busses are consistently timed wrong, which gives some crumb of comfort I suppose knowing that the pointlessness of it is not random.
My stay at home is only going to be a brief stay as my flight to Brussels is going to be very early and it means I need to be leaving home by 01:30. So time to publish now as it is 23:12 on Tuesday, a bit of final packing and then watch TV before heading out of the door and then the travel starts with a drive to Manchester Airport or at least the car park next door to Manchester Airport
