Today has been a public holiday in France for Mayday or labour day as some countries call it. Not for us Brits that are working over here, as for us it was a normal working day, but because the office is closed then we had to work in the hotel. That proved a little difficult as at nine a.m. the party started, there was music played at very high volume and the same two records over and over again, hey baby and celebration. This did get a little tedious after a while. Also there was a bike race taking place and some very professional teams seem to be involved. All of the guys who were working decided we would take our hour lunch time for a change and go for a walk to see what was happening, so at twelve thirty we left he hotel, we walked to the centre where the procession of music had gone some hour or so earlier, only to find that people were packing up and going home, the bike race had finished, there were a lot of market stalls and they too were packing up. I did manage to pick up a hot chicken as I fancied something warm for tea. But we were really disappointed as it looked like everyone was having a great time in the morning but straight after lunch it was over. We walked back in a desolate town, every single shop was closed and the streets deserted.
After work an English and a Lithuanian colleague and I went for a walk around the town to find food for them, I had already had hot chicken and salad in my room and the other half is now in my fridge for tomorrow night, back to the story so we walked toward the centre marine shopping centre to see what they could find but the only fayre on offer was McDonalds, so my English colleague and I sat and watched him eat. We said good bye to him as we passed the street to the hotel and proceeded to a local Indian restaurant as the English guy I was with fancied a curry. I then sat and watched him eat his curry. We returned to the hotel in time for me to start watching the Barcelona match on TV at nine p.m. (remember we are an hour behind and the game was only fifteen minutes in).
So the French public holiday looked like it was going to promise so much but in the end didn’t deliver, a bit like the Barcelona game I suppose. Now it is time for bed as tomorrow we are back in the office as it is all back to normal work wise
So for now it is Night All
