So today I begin with my review of my car, the Nissan qhoshco or something like that. And we start with a picture.
I have done just over 200 kilometres in the thing so far and I start with the ride, as normal for a 4 x 4 you are sat that bit higher than a normal car and it does give a smooth ride, even over very potholed roads. The fuel consumption does not look that bad having used a quarter of a tank for the miles I have done which means absolutely nothing as I don’t know how big the tank is. But normally the same journey costs around forty five euros when i fill up at the end of the week so we shall see then. This is a diesel and as always nowadays makes no difference to the sound inside the car. The one bug bear with it is the slight vibration when you put your foot on the gas and it pulls away but I think that may be how the car has been driven prior to me as it has done over ten thousand kilometres in its life so far. Overall a nice car and would be happy if I got it again.
So review over, tonight I have been out for a walk to the beach which was quite bracing as the wind was gale force and it was rather chilly. The beach is nice and there is plenty of new development around the area. There is also a museum dedicated to the 1940 evacuation and at the beach a nice memorial which is maintained very well. On a less windy day I could imagine it been a lovely place to spend some time with nice golden sand and a good strip available even at high tide. The walk from the centre of town took just over half an hour so it was quite a nice distance and then we came back via the town centre before coming back into the hotel. We came back via the town centre as a number of tents have been erected in the town square and we wanted to see if something was going on but that may be tomorrow as it is a public holiday tomorrow and all the Frenchies are off work, needless to say the Brits amongst us are still working albeit from the hotel. Quite strange really as the Lithuanians, Germans and the Czech guy are all having the day off, but just us Brits working. However next Monday we have our public holiday and they are all working and guess what, us Brits have to work as we need to travel to our next site which happens to be Hunedoara (or however you spell it). For the less geographic amongst us (like me) it is not far from both the Serbia and Hungarian borders, if you head east you eventually get to the black sea but it does look a bit far to travel to and not sure I will get that much time whilst we are there.
But it will be the furthest east I have been in Europe and interesting to see that the other countries that are around that area are Moldova, Ukraine and Bulgaria. It is like listening to a Eurovision song contest night. The flights are booked and the hotel in a town called Deva which is about fifteen kilometres away looks nice with an outdoor pool. Apparently the weather there today was thirty degrees so I will take my shorts on the hope that I will get a swim or two in. The plan is I will be there for four nights leaving on Friday morning. They don’t seem to do direct flights to Timisoara so I am going via Munich which adds a little time to the journey but hopefully adds to the excitement.
I think that is all for tonight, need to do a little work before turning in. At least I have a lie in as my first call is at nine a.m. but with having to work from the hotel I could get up at five to and I would still be on time.
A picture from the beach, with my shadow for good measure
Night all
