Day 38 - Home to Dunkirk - Qashqai and velocor raptor

Just 2 weeks after saying I may not be visiting Dunkirk again, here I am, and what a lovely day it has been. The temperature is really warm and even the locals have started to come out. 

But back to today and the first surprise of the day came as I left the M62 and headed toward Halifax to collect a colleague who was coming with me to the Frenchie land.  Just near the turn for Wyke village is a brilliant model of a raptor dinosaur, about ten feet high and really impressive looking.  I decided I want one, probably couldn’t find one or afford it but it looked great.

The second surprise was the car I have been given this week from the hire company, I have a Nissan qashqai  however you are suppose to pronounce that, a blooming great 4 x 4 thing and have decided about eight weeks too late that I am going to give a review of each car I get starting with this one, not now but maybe during the week when I have less to say in my blog.  Less to say meaning I have basically got up, gone to work, come back to hotel and watched football on telly.

But for now I arrived at the hotel about 3.00 p.m. and answered a few emails before going onto a one hour call.  Two hours later I finished the call and decided I needed some food so went to the supermarket, not the one near work but the one that I walked to a few weeks ago, the one that took nearly two hours each way, but this time I went in the car.  The main purpose was to get some milk for my morning tea and cereal and I will say this again as I know I have said it before, the supermarkets have a whole row of milk that is the UHT stuff but only a handful of the fresh pasteurised sort that we are used to.  Anyway with objective obtained I returned to the hotel, but with a surprise.  As I was negotiating my way around the car park and put the car into reverse the main console changed from the radio to a rear view camera and it is a real help when reversing into spaces and there is a car behind you.  I spent the next five minutes looking at the back of the car to see if I could find where the camera is.  I assume it will be really helpful if you run over someone when you are reversing as you will be able to see if they are still under the car.  I will put a picture of the screen showing the reverse view.

That is all for now as it is getting toward 10:00 pm and I have to do some work before going to bed and have to be up at six as the guys who are here want to be in the office at eight and I am the nominated driver in my qashqai.
