Today has been a slightly different day, first of all we had a meeting in Mardyck and so it was a chance to work in a different location to the last couple of days and as it was to be another totally French meeting I bowed out and did some work and a couple of conference calls and joined the main meeting only when they needed some questions answering. This suited me as I could work and it suited the French guys as they could speak French to each other to their hearts content. The downside of Mardyck is that it was meeting up with an office full of people who had not seen me for a few weeks and the handshaking started and I am not joking when I say that my little finger (yes you have to read previous blogs to find out what happened to my little pinkie) started to hurt again. It now seems everyone in the place has developed the habit of trying to break your hand with a handshake. Also I am convinced that the office must have twice as many workers as before or they all came around for another handshake. After the meeting and when we were leaving it was the same again, I honestly do not know how they get any work done, they are always either sat talking French to each other or shaking hands, or when a woman walks into the room they all get up for a bit of kissing. Our countries are separated by 21 miles of water near Dover and yet it might as well be the other side of the world culturally.
So we finally left and the day was different for another way, my French colleague had booked into the same hotel as me, as we always do but as he had left it late, they could not accommodate him all week so tonight he had to move out and go to another hotel in the area, I will refuse to say which one as this may impede my story.
So I dropped him off at his hotel and agreed to meet at about 7.30 when I had done some more work and another conference call I had at 6.00 p.m. til 7.00 p.m. I duly arrived at his hotel at 7.30 so we could have a drink, a quick chat about work and tomorrow’s meetings and he could have his dinner while I watched. I had already eaten in my room as I don’t want to eat in restaurants every night anymore so I have what I want in my room.
So we sat in the ****** Hotel and chatted whilst we had a drink, I had a coke as I was driving. We were sat overlooking the serving area and a lady was bringing the food out and passing to two more ladies who were doing the serving and clearing etc. It was when they brought my colleague his menu that I noticed she had a perfectly formed moustache. I am sorry but I did look and OK and I had the desire to take a photo for the blog but then had better thoughts as it wouldn’t really be fair. So I was sat there when another lady brought my colleague his starter and low and behold she had a moustache, I was quite shocked, what is the chance that two ladies in the same place have moustache’s I then looked out for the third and felt quite sorry for her as she was left out as she had a perfectly smooth face. Not even a hint of stubble. None of these ladies were old, I would say late twenties at most and I thought I wonder if it is a case of living too close to heavy industry all your life, maybe it alters things, like Blinky the fist in the Simpson’s.
Anyway as tomorrow is my last full day here and my last full day with my car I thought I would write a review and now thinking about it, it would have been better to have had a photo, so I will postpone the review until tomorrow when I get my camera out and take a photo.
So on that note, it is
Goodnight All
