Day 100 - Ostrava - A centuary of travel days.

Finally I have reached day 100 and it is a damp, cloudy, rainy day.  Ironic after what seems like weeks and weeks of warm weather, day 100 comes and I see one of the few rainy days.  Never mind.
Today has been mainly about work as I had a fair few meetings on the client site and what didn’t help was that I had another contender in my own look-a-like competition and must admit I kept staring at him as it was uncanny.  This is a competition I play to myself and see which famous people I can spot.  It all almost stopped when it came to a head in Brugge a year ago, when on a trip with my son as we were walking along the canal side when coming the other way was Jesus.  I suppose it would have been more impressive fi he had been walking along the top of the canal but it was a look-a-like and not the real one.  He was absolutely identical to the pictures you see of him, even down to his sock less sandaled feet, however this must have been pre-crucifixion days as they seemed fully intact.  Anyway back to today and the celebrity today was none other than Billy Connelly, unfortunately for the rest of us he did have a very strong Russian accent and no hint of any humour what-so-ever, so it was in looks only.
The other key part of the day was the news that I have almost run out of money.  I got some of the local currency as normal from home, but have misjudged the extra days here this time around and with the hotel just a little bit further away from work than the last one we are paying that little bit more for taxis.  Therefore I was doing some adding up and I am about 300 or so crowns short.  So I went to the local shopping centre to see if I could find a travel agent or something but nothing. But my bit of good luck was that the hotel told me they exchange money and not expecting a good rate I still had to do it.  I was surprised that I have got a better rate at the hotel then I did from the Thompsons shop in Goole.  But I also remember that when we were in Romania the exchange rate on offer was also better than the one I had got at home and by some margin too.
Whilst having a walk around, after going to the supermarket to replenish the water supply I decided to take the long way back, toward the old hotel and then down the main street.  As I walked nearer the current hotel there are more shops that I haven’t seen and one was a fan shop, so I took a peek and surprised to see that the shop sold football shirts, not that surprising but what was, was that they only had merchandise for Man Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal and even Liverpool.  Oh and I spotted a Barcelona scarf in the window, but nothing of any Czech football teams.  Seems they cant get enough of English teams over here.  So I continued my walk and as I got back to the hotel I realised that I have run out of tea bags, bummer.
I was hoping that Day 100 may give me the chance to do a bit more but I suppose it is the stark reality that I am here to work and therefore tripping around like a tourist cannot always be on the agenda.
On that note I shall continue with some work whilst listening to the radio and taking a drink of my coffee.

Night All.
