Day 101 - Ostrava - Russian Invasions and Ivan Lendl

Today has been mostly about the evening but before that I have to report a new look-a-like.  Spotted today in one of my meetings was Albert Einstein.  I am not sure if the likeness went beyond looks and this person was a legendary genius because they didn’t speak a word of English.  Haivng said that Einstein also spoke another language.
So back to tonight and I have to admit at having one of the best evenings with a client I have had.  I finished my meetings on site at 15:00 and had two more to do when I got back to the hotel.  Therefore the offer of going out for dinner was a nice thought but I had too much to do as when you spend all day doing meetings you have your emails to catch up on and actions for tomorrow to take care of.
With no choice I arranged to meet at a restaurant at 18:00.  When my colleague and I arrived all but one of the customers where there and from the first minute we were made to feel really welcome and the next four hours flew by.  We discussed everything from Russian invasions and Czech history to ice hockey, cricket and football.  One of the guys from the client side knew very little English but did really well to join in the conversation.  Some of the things I learned about the Czech Republic and Ostrava in particular were very interesting.  Facts such as Andy Murray’s trainer Ivan Lendl was born in Ostrava.  We even had a conversation about the different ways England, the Czechs and Lithuania celebrate Christmas and which character is suppose to bring the Christmas presents.
One of the client’s brought with him a copy of a CD his son had professionally recorded and later his son appeared to collect his father from the restaurant and we spend a pleasant few minutes speaking to him about his music.  After learning about how he made each track it will be nice to listen to it when I get home.
For dinner I had something called (not sure if I have spelt this right) Occasucca which is beef that is cooked very slowly for many hours and local vegetables.  I took a picture of it before I started.  As people who know me know that I am not all that adventurous with food but this really was nice and I was very pleased with my choice.
After the meal we walked back to the hotel and the city looked really nice in the night time.  Buildings were lit up very prettily and the churches in particular looked magnificent in their illumination.
All in all a really great evening and it is true that sometimes when you’re not looking forward to something you have the best time.
The only downside was that when I returned back to the hotel I had quite a bit of work to do.  I have taken a break from that to write up the blog for this evening.  Now that I have finished it I must get back to it

Night All.
Trust me it tasted better than it looked.
