The other plan today was to travel to Esch sur Alzette for a meeting but things have changed a little and the meeting ended up being cancelled which did allow me to get some work done during the normal working day.
My last meeting finished a little after six and I agreed to meet my Belgian colleague and go out for a meal at a restaurant as all week I had eaten in the room and was getting a bit stir crazy. We met at 6.45 p.m. and walked into the Luxembourg centre. She had booked a table at a Mexican and despite my travels I have never been in a Mexican before. The first thing I noticed as we walked through the town was the number of people who had dressed up for halloween. Not kids but adults, we passed witches and other strange looking people before finally reaching the restaurant. We ordered a nancho starter to share and I had a chicken Fahetah (not sure how you spell it). It came with onion, peppers and a few bowls of something or other, oh and a bowl of what looked like grated cheddar cheese. The nanchos were a bit boring as unflavored crisps are but the chicken dish made up for it, it really was delicious, even the bowls of something or other added nicely to the faheta. All around the restaurant the staff had dressed up and we were served by a pleasant zombie and a woman who I am not sure if she had dressed up or not, perhaps she just looked like that normally. By 8.30 p.m. we were walking back to the hotel having full stomachs and needing the walk to at least get some of the full feeling worn off. On the way back we saw another multitude of creatures of the night, I am not sure where they were heading but they were all walking somewhere.
Once back at the hotel I got back to my room and decided instead of looking back at the laptop and my emails decided to do a bit of reading. I havn't done much in the past but wanted to finish off The Priest's Hole, which is a horror book by Ray Clark, a local author who is part of our writing group and as it is a horror it seems the best time to complete it. I have to admit I have enjoyed the book but it is a bit graphic and some of the incidents are very well described. I have not been a fan of horror before and this has not changed by view, the problem is it is a good story and I have to find out what happens despite the fact I don't like horror.
So with the book finished and a final check of the emails it is time for bed as I need to be up early for a meeting before heading off to the airport for the plane journey home, via Zurich of course.
So for now,
Night All
