Friday has come around once more and this week a little more than normal I was thankful it was time to go home. I dont talk about work much on the blog and I wont really do it this time but just to say it has been a challange and during one of my meetings, my Guardian Angel got up and left the room, that is certainly what if felt like.
So today there was time for one meeting to be had before I could pack my suitcase and check out. I must have looked keen to leave the city as I was at the airport by just after 11:00 a.m. when my plane was due to leave until 3.00 p.m. But I felt just that bit nearer home being at the airport. The plane was on time and we were soon doing the short 40 minute flight to Zurich. When I arrived in Switzerland I checked my mails and needed to ring my Nottingham colleague which was good as he is one of those guys that even when you have to talk about bad stuff he mixes with small talk that makes the call a pleasure, so much so that I had to cut him off as I was on the bus going to the aircraft, at least it passed the time pleasantly.
I arrived at Birmingham and the first bad part of the day, I retrieved my big blue case and found that it had a tear down the side, quite a bad one. I took it to the baggage handlers and the guy was very efficient and took all the details but I now have to contact Swiss Airlines to make a claim but as the case is a nice one and very handy as it is the biggest I have I am a bit miffed that it is now duffed.
i got to the car and was soon on my way home, even though it was now 7.00 p.m. the road, the M1, was very busy. To make matters worse I hit the M18 at 8.30 p.m. and at Junction 4 the road was closed for roadworks, I know roadworks have to be done and I have seen my fair share as I travel but to start a road closure at 8.00 p.m. on a Friday night seemed strange and to then divert the whole M18 traffic through a couple of very small villages did not do a lot for my sanity. It was one of those times when you think you are not going to ever get home, but I pulled of the motorway at Goole at almost 9.30 p.m. some 12 hours since I left the hotel in Luxembourg.
The good news is that I am not now travelling until Tuesday, the bad news is that I am travelling to Dunkirk by car and need to set off at midnight on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning so that I can be in the office by 8.00 a.m. Wednesday morning ready to go. But for now it is time for rest and relaxation for two days before it all starts again next week.
So for now its
Night All
