Day 147 - Calais - Tried a little walk

Another day at work and then it was a trip around the supermarket for provisions, drop my colleague off at the station so he can go home.  The problem is that is pretty much my day today and I realise that that is a little depressing, I notice that I am not getting out and about at all.  I suppose it has something to do with the fact it is dark just after 5.00 p.m. and the cold.  I had been in my room a bit and thought I need something from the car why not take the camera and see what I can snap around the hotel.  Bearing in mind the hotel is based near the docks and ferries are coming and going.  I thought it may be nice to walk just a little while and see what I can see.  I walked to the car to get what I needed out and couldnt believe the cold wind, it was blasting right through me, so I headed by to my room and turned the heating up.  It is my final night in Calais for this week and have to admit it is my last night in this hotel, hopefully ever.  I know I am being a bit over dramatic as the hotel doesent seem that bad, it is just dismal.
The reception is nicely decorated and looks appealing but when you get to your floor the lights are dim, the carpets look old and a bit dirty and the walls look as if they have seen their fair share of traffic.  The room likewise is very dim, it has three lamps in the room but even with all of them on it is still semi dark.
The other strange thing is the coffee and tea making facility, I know it has got some which is more than some of my previous hotels have had but for some reason they have provided a nice kettle but the smallest cups I have ever seen.  They will be fine if you wanted an expresso coffee but not for a decent cup of tea.  I think I am going to have to start bringing my own cup.
It has been a short week but my trip is not quite over, tomorrow i have a few meetings before being able to jump on to the tunnel train and set off home.
But that is all for tonight and I think I have realised that I have started to fall into that pattern or work in the hotel, work in the office and then back to work in the hotel until bed time.  I need to get myself prepared for the cold and next week when I am back in Luxembourg I need to get my ass out of the hotel and see what I can see again and maybe that way I can stop having that fed up feeling.
So for now its
Night All
