Although it was only Wednesday yesterday it was time to journey home and even though we had only been in France for 2 days when I got home and woke up this morning I felt like it was the weekend and had that weekend feeling. It soon ended when I realised I had to start work yet again.
But back to yesterday and it was a fast day to say the least. Once I had risen, there was no time for breakfast as it was meeting after meeting until after lunch and then a mad dash to the Tunnel which luckily was only a few minutes away to catch the train back to the UK.
The first part of the journey home to drop my Nottingham colleague off was not bad at all and to celebrate we stopped for a coffee at Toddington services. I felt really guilty as my colleague insisted of paying for the coffee, it brought a tear to my eye. It would have made me bawl if I had paid, but seriously it was nice of him and to have a classy costa coffee it was a real treat.
We were soon back on our way and I managed to drop him off early evening but that is where my problems began, I left his house and finally rejoined the M1 to meet with a wall of solid traffic that crawled its way past Chesterfield and toward Chesterfield. I finally got home some two and a half hours after being in Nottingham.
I had work to do when I got home but after spending effectively 9 hours in the car I didnt fancy doing any but as always, it has to be done so I sat up until well into the early hours to get what was urgent done.
Travel is great when you can do it but it doesnt replace the daily work and this is hammered home more when I work from home like today and it is good to see how much I can get done just in the normal day time.
With the blog wrapped up for this week and my plan to have day off work tomorrow it is chance to have a bit of a rest before next week when it all begins again with an early start and a drive to Luxembourg.
