Day 152 - Luxembourg - And the snow still cometh

It was another late start today, I love the fact the hotel is about 10 yards from the customer site.  I rose serenely at 8.00 a.m., I majestically completed the morning routine before wafting out of the room and to the lift and finally I gracefully entered the breakfast room.  I perused the fare on offer and stuck with my usual cereal and bit of toast and two cups of coffee.  I realise I am starting to get predictable on the breakfast front.  I have tried the warm selection but quite frankly I think they try but they try a little too hard and the even the beans have a funny taste to them.  I don't know how you give beans a funny taste but they manage it.  They should be proud of themselves.
As I sipped my coffee and checked my phone for the time, I realised I had serenly wafted and majestically got myself running late so it was a mad dash back to the room to get changed and back out of the door to the office.  I could hardly blame the traffic for my late arrival but it seemed not to matter.
As I left the hotel the snow was still falling but the roads were clear, in fact the fine powdery snow that was falling made no effort to stick, so much so that when I emerged from the client office the snow had stopped and there was hardly any sign that it had ever been there.  I decided this was the time to go to the supermarket for the provisions run.
This happens every time but I will mention it now.  I am not sure if its a Lux thing or a continent thing but they don't know how to negotiate the roundabouts properly.  I will explain this as if it is a British roundabout but in reality we are all going around the other way.  As you approach and want to turn right you go into the right lane and signal right, you then go around the roundabout until you reach the exit before yours and signal left and come across to the left lane and leave the roundabout, well not here.  Half the people go choose the left lane, give no indication and then go all the way around the outside and cut the other half of the people who have done it correctly, therefore you get near misses all the time.  Oh and of course the people who have done it wrong decide to flash their lights of sound their horn as this obviously makes them right and you wrong.  The other thing that has started to worry me about driving over here is the fact that I am turning left and right and not even thinking about what side of the road I should be on, it sort of comes naturally.  I used to have to concentrate here and then back home I could not concentrate and just drive on autopilot and all would be ok.  I am going to have to be careful when I get back to Blighty.
On the subject of getting back to Blighty, my plan is to leave the hotel around 4.00 a.m. to 4.30 a.m. and hopefully get to the tunnel by late morning at the latest, I will do a last bit of refueling at the European prices before getting across to Folkestone and the journey up the M11, A14 and A1.
For now I plan to get an early night as I am tired as most of last night was laid awake listening to the commentary of the cricket, I know that I heard the play until lunch and then just after when the wickets started falling but must have fallen asleep before they broke for tea at about 4.00 a.m. here.
I have finished my packing with just the clothes I am wearing to be added to the laundry bag and tomorrows laid out on the sofa ready for a bat pole exit.  The good part about travelling home on a Friday is that most other people are travelling too so not many emails come through and with only one conference call meeting at 4.00 p.m. it means I can be a fair way on the way home before I have to stop to listen. Then it is the weekend and two days off before it all begins again.  But with four working weeks till the Baby Jesus celebration my mood is beginning to lighten.  I don't think I have mentioned this before so will now whilst I have time to type it all down.  The good part about the Christmas holiday above all others is that for two weeks everyone stops work which means that when you start again there are not mountains of emails to go through and therefore it really does give your mind time to relax and enjoy time with the family.
So on that note I will upload this to the blog and get ready for some extra early sleep.
Night All.
