I start this blog not all that happy as I had written this once and managed to delete it by mistake after publishing. So here we go again.
Today I have to admit to not feeling all that well, I think the chicken took revenge on me during the night or at 4.00 a.m. to be precise. I then spend the next two hours until getting up time, up and down to the bathroom. I didnt think the thing was off exactly but it was pretty dried up when I ate it. Still it meant that my drive into Dunkirk from Calais was quick, or to me more exact at the same pace as the French motorists on the same route, perhaps they all eat the same chicken dinner as me.
Work was standard and by lunchtime I was feeling a little better and a little hungry, therefore I took myself to the supermarket and the local branch of Paul's which is like a sandwich shop. I managed to get served by a young girl who could speak no English so I ordered a fromage et jambon bagette and then said, "a boissen au coke cola si vous play" (you can tell i cannot write French either) which I would like to think meant I wanted a coke with my sandwich. I paid my money and received my bag only to find my cheese and ham sandwich and an apricot flan, how the heck does boissen au coke cola come out as an apricot flan. My mind boggles at what you get if you ask for whatever the French is for apricot flan.
Back at the hotel and I agreed to travel with my Leicester colleague to the restaurant to sit with him while he ate and then have something back in my room later. By the time we came out I can report my stomach was feeling rather queezy and my own tea of a rice based dinner has been put on hold until tomorrow night.
Upon my return I treated myself to a hot bath and due to the way the bath and room are designed I can watch the TV from the bath and therefore had a nice time watching the football as I laid back and relaxed.
Before I close off for the night and get to bed a couple of things to report, firstly this morning it was the day of the national police force to depart the hotel, as I waited for my colleagues to come downstairs they were leaving carrying great big boxes of equipment and wheeling their cases behind them. I feel a little safer with less guns in the hotel, even if they do belong to the police. Also I have been told that I do not have to travel next week and most likely the week after either so I have two weeks at home which will be my first two week stint at home since March and I am really looking forward to it.
On that good note I will say goodnight and hopefully I can get some sleep and shake off this lousy feeling.
Night All.
