Day 14 - Houston - more problems

The day started so well, I woke up on time and not feeling too tired but it went downhill from there.  Heathrow was full and as added entertainment I got to watch two ladies complain very loudly to the fact they had to take their shoes off and all metal objects prior to security screening.  I am amazed in this day and age there are still some people who dont realise what you have to do and how you have to follow orders.
The plane journey was long, over ten hours and I did struggle a little today.  I seemed to be on an awful long time and was only 5 hours into the trip.  I did watch a couple of films.  I watched the wolf of Wall Street, Elysium and then, as people who know me know that I like to watch musicals, I watched Caberet.  I am amazed that I have not seen the film all the way through before  have to admit it is not one of my favourites but glad I have seen it .
I arrived at Houston and departed the plane at 2.00 p.m. And promptly stood in border control for an hour and a half.  The it was a further 45 minutes at another passport control before another hour at security scanning to get to another terminal.  By the time I reached my terminal and checked my plane it had been cancelled so it was a further line to organise another flight which will not be until tomorrow morning.  Then another queue to try and sort out getting my suitcase back for a night in the local hotel but I was told it would be a minimum of 4 hours but more likely 6 or 7 so it was abandoned to see if it gets to Hobbs anytime I do.
I am now sat in a hotel at 7 local time or 2.00 am uk time with very few possessions but did manage to get a wash bag complimentary with some toothpaste, razor etc.  my flight is lunchtime tomorrow so all i can do now is rest and I do feel I need it as I am shattered with all the standing around.  I hope I feel better by the time I get to Hobbs and go straight to work.
The reason the flight was cancelled was bad weather and to be fair the ground is very flooded and all the news channels here are talking about is the weather and the impending doom of more rain.  So I shall have to see if my flight actually gets off the ground tomorrow lunchtime.
So for now it's night all.
