Firstly I will explain where day 22 went, well it went in a haze of work and sleep. I was hoping to have a drive out after work and the plan was to go down to a town called Kermit about 2 hours away but I got back to the hotel and laid down on the bed and then next thing it was 7.00 p.m. and two late to set off for a journey like that.
After a few nights of not sleeping well I did manage to get some rest and that was better than nothing.
So today came and a bit of a bolt from the blue, this is my second two week stint in New Mexico and I was expecting to have a few more visits but my boss contacted me and told me that I had been given a new position looking after sites in Germany and Holland so it looks like my time here is coming to an abrupt end. My two week stint was coming to an end and I am due to fly back tomorrow anyway but it does mean I will not be coming back. I am quite sad as I was hoping to go to the Mexican border on my next trip but apart from traveling about I have met some very nice people who have welcomed me to their team. Everyone I seemed to have met have been friendly and my memories of New Mexico and Texas will be of the friendly locals who are polite to the extreme. The area around here is very remote with hundreds of miles of scrub and desert but in between that are beautiful small towns who know how to act like a community and make the best for their people. Also the weather has been special for me, with temperatures regularly over 100 degrees F and the highest I saw was 114. All in all I will miss the place and miss the people and hope that someday I will get to come back and revisit.
So back to tonight and my last night was spent with my UK ex pat colleague who once again took me shooting. Again I took some video to remember the occasion and the link is below. It was fun way to spend a couple of hours and once again I enjoyed the evening.
Then back at the hotel it was time to pack and prepare for my early departure
