Day 30, 31 and 32 - A bit of a catch up

Today’s blog will cover the past few days, the reason for that is that it has been mainly work and not a lot else.  But to cover what I have done here is the detail.
On Sunday afternoon it was time to travel to Hull and aboard the ferry for another trip to Almelo.  As usual once I was aboard I found my cabin and sorted out a few items whilst catching up on the latest Archer’s podcasts.  That took me to just after six in the evening and I decided that it would be time to venture out into the world of ferry crossing and see what was happening.  I covered the entertainment area in a few minutes and as normal, not a great deal was going on as it normally starts after the boat sets sail and that is about 8.00 p.m.
For a change I decided to go to the Sky Bar which is like a posh piano bar which really nice views out of the ship and at the time into the Humber.  I spent a nice hour sat there with a half of beer, the limit I wanted to drink with me driving the next day, looking out over the river watching the ships pass on their way to the Ouse or the Trent, to Goole or to the wharfs aside the River Trent.
Also it was a chance to people watch as most people on board are travelling to or from holiday which always creates a more relaxed and happy atmosphere.
My next venture was back down to the show bar to watch the first set of the local band The Radicals.  It was good and a nice way to spend another 45 minutes.  After than I decided I would go back to my cabin and relax listening to some drama plays from the BBC podcasts before hitting the bed.
The next day was a travel day to Almelo and obviously straight to work.  I finished at 6.00 p.m. and a brief visit to the local Aldi.  In the UK some people say that Aldi and Lidl sell cheap food as it is not the normal UK food you see in Tesco etc.  So I wondered if when I went in here, the food would be not the normal food you would see in Holland and maybe stuff from the UK.  But it wasn’t.  I got what I needed and headed back to check in at the hotel.
This week I have a room at the front of the hotel and overlooking the park and the small piazza that forms the front of the hotel, very nice indeed.  However it did prove a little noisy which surprised me as there was not normally more than an odd one or two people about but it seemed that when they talked the sound echoed up and I could hear everything they were saying.  I couldn’t understand what they were saying but could hear it.
The night passed with my catching the last bit of the tennis with Murray winning his latest opponent and then I caught quite a bit of the late football match as well before retiring to bed.

Tuesday arrived in a normal fashion and after a pretty good night’s sleep I was up and ready for work and met my UK colleague who is staying in the same hotel as me, and I gave him a lift to work.  You will notice I didn’t talk about giving him a lift home last night, I didn’t, I gave him the opportunity to walk the 2 miles from site to hotel and he said he’d enjoyed it so I felt pleased with myself.
I would like to say that work today came and went in a flash but unfortunately it didnt, it went about as fast as a snail on a 200 yard long garden path and at times that snail was sauntering and I dont like a saunter.
But the end did come and that meant that I had a quick trip to the supermarket planned and then back to my room, I really do want to do a bit of exploring but I am lacking a little bit of motivation at the moment on that front so I am not getting out there and seeing things.  Apart from when I was in the US, when I am out and about it is nice when you have some decent colleagues with you for company and more so when they are good fun, which I am pleased to say most of them are.  So of course when those guys are not here and my motivation has departed as well, I seem to spend most of my time in the hotel.
One good thing of spending so much time in the hotel is that recently I have written two short stories a short one of a couple of thousand words and one of fourteen thousand which is my first attempt at a sort of horror tension story.  So at least I am putting my seclusion to good use.
Tomorrow is my final day for this week and my final day of travelling for at least two weeks, which I am pleased about.  After the amount of travelling over the past three and a bit months where I have only had one or two weeks at home it will be nice to see the dog a bit more.  Oh and of course the family.
I wont go too much into tomorrow as I will leave that for tomorrow so for tonight at just gone 11:00 p.m. I will say

Night All
