The addiction has started again - Day 1 home to London

I am back on the road again or rather the rail track and actually not back on the road for the first time this week but last week as well. Only that last week I was going to try to vlog and not blog. So basically do all of this in video rather than right it down. Didn't work.
The problem was that I took video of me at goole station and then at Doncaster station and then for a very brief time outside kings cross. But it looked a bit strange walking through places talking to the camera. It wasn't so bad at Leicester Square and Covent Garden as I blended in with the tourists but other places I didn't.

So I am back to writing it all down and today or rather this morning it was London bound   An early start saw me at Goole station at just after five thirty a.m. And this time I was not alone as some workmen were finishing off painting the station and at least I got something to watch as I stood waiting for the train.
I was soon at Doncaster and here is my first gripe of the day. I wanted to get a coffee and amazingly the pumpkin cafe on the platform does not open until 6.30 a.m.  With literally hundreds of people on the station for the early trains to London the cafe does not open until most of the trains have gone. My train is a bit later so I got to get a coffee and use my pointless reward scheme card. If you buy 120 drinks you get your next one free. Not quite that bad but not far off.
On the good side I use Hull Trains and it is good as they have free wifi all the way so you can do important work like check Facebook, update Twitter, check bbc website for news. So all the important stuff.   And of course I am writing the first part of my blog on the train so I can do something productive.
My plans for tonight are to try and finish work some time around 6 to 6.30 and then get out around London. Not sure if any of my colleagues will be out but I will try and get out and see what is going on.  I like having a look around the west end and Covent gardens as it seems so lively there.  But we shall see how that goes.
I am back after a really nice evening out.
I finished work pretty early for a change and was back in the hotel by 6.00 p.m.  A few minutes to clean up, hang my clothes up, moan about my crap room for a change and then get ready to go out.  Tonight I had a treat in store as whilst at work today bumped into a colleague that I used to work with twelve years ago and had only seen occasionally since.  So tonight my Exeter colleague and myself hit the streets of London.
We started by getting off the tube at Covent Garden and had a look around.  We walked toward Leicester Square and en route stopped off at a TGI Friday and had some food, it shows what rebels we are as it's a Tuesday night.
I had chicken breast with a Jack Daniels source, funny but the more I had of it the better it tasted and the better the company got.
Feeling warm and happy we left the restaurant and walked through Leicester Square, down to Piccadilly Circus, through Soho toward Charing Cross and Trafalgar Square.  Then we turned north and headed toward the bright lights and ended up in China Town and before we knew where we were, we were back in Leicester Square.  So we decided to call it a night and headed back to the hotel.
We were out a total of four hours and a chance to catch up with a colleague that I have not had time to catch up with for 12 years was really interesting and enjoyable.
So back at the hotel and a nice cup of tea to bemoan my room once more, it really is that bad but I will go into that on tomorrow's blog as tonight I feel too tired after my early morning start and a good walk around the streets of London.
Time for bed, night all.
