It was a very early rise as I needed
to catch up with some people over in India in readiness for work today so there
was no chance to ease myself into work, at least I could have a couple of cups
of tea before I headed for a quick breakfast of Weetabix and my usual rifling
of the fruit section.
It had to be a quick breakkie before
I had to get ready and get to the office.
I had time this afternoon for a lap
of the stations, Pancras and Kings Cross and whilst going through Kings Cross I
took another look at the Alan Rickman memorial and the flowers are
increasing. I took a picture
There are lots of messages from fans
and of course the phrase “Always” which has become synonymous with him.
Whilst at work I decided it was time
to go out and have a look around, after two nights in the hotel working I was
feeling a bit down so decided a good walk was on the cards. I had a quick google maps and decided on a
route that would take me from the hotel near Russell Sq down to Tottenham Court
Rd and a walk along Oxford Street, after that I would head south and look for
Covent Garden and that was as far as my planning went. After that I will see what happens. That was the plan anyway.
The plan to leave work a bit earlier
didn’t work as I didn’t get away until after 6.30 p.m. but I did get back to
the hotel, was changed and meeting my Nottingham colleague just after 7.00 p.m. We started by walking from my hotel down to
Tottenham court road and then along Oxford Street for a while and then south
and ended up at Piccadilly so almost to plan.
We started to think about food and so mysteriously found our way to
china town and just happen to find a Chinese restaurant that looked nice and
was in my allowed price bracket, so how could we refuse. I had duck rolls followed by lemon chicken
fillets and rice. It was very nice but
very filling so we needed a walk before heading back to the hotel and therefore
headed what I thought would be to Trafalgar Square. Goodness knows where we went but some street
names I saw were Haymarket and Pall Mall but not the bit near Buck Palace. I did see some very impressive buildings along
the route and finally we ended up at the Ritz hotel. I considered changing hotels for the night
but instead got to Green Park tube station and travelled for 15 minutes back to
Russell Sq.
All in all it has been a nice night
with nice company, my Nottingham colleague was one of the talkative types and
that makes the night so much easier and interesting. I finally got back to the hotel at 10.30 p.m.
so time to update the blog and do a bit of internet surfing. So I will complete this and then upload it
and bid you all a
Goodnight.
A quick view of china town as we left
