Day 22 - Target in sight

Wow, I can really say that yesterday's relaxation night has worked.  I woke before 6.30 a.m. and felt like getting up and off, but as I didn't see the point in getting to work at that time, I enjoyed more me time by having a couple of cups of tea and enjoyed a bit of telly or rather the news.

The walk to work was so standard that I cannot remember any part of it, it is like one second I was in the room and then next I was screaming like a tantrum toddler as I enter the office.  Don’t worry that is totally normal for me.  As I see the office looming in the distance, the air starts to cool and by the time I enter the front door the cold has been replaced by a dark gloom.  Anyway enough of the positivity for now.
Work was punctuated by spots that were less gloomy than the norm, particularly when at lunchtime I made time to go for a coffee with my Reading colleague.  The reason for such extravagance (especially when there is free coffee in the office) was that this was his last day with the company as the lucky so and so has got another job elsewhere.  So today was a chance to say a few nice words and wish him all the best.  My words are true as he was a nice guy to work with and will be missed.
I managed to get two laps of the stations in today which was good as I need to keep the steps going especially after yesterday’s relax time meant that my steps only totalled just over 8,000 so need to get my butt in gear and get some steps today.  I forgot to mention but I have put my target up to 15,000 but I suppose I can have a target of twenty million if I have no chance of achieving it regularly, therefore I have to sort it out, wow this is me sounding motivated.  I think next I will be stood on my desk at work shouting “COME ON, COME ON” and slapping myself in the face.  Or maybe not.
As you can probably tell I write this as and when I can through the day and therefore it is as up to date as possible.  As it was time to leave work the weather was hammering it down with rain and I did think about catching the underground to the hotel but changed my mind as I needed the steps and remember I have 15.000 to hit today.  Today was a good day and I left work at 5.00 p.m. and checked with my colleagues but for some reason no one wanted to go out tonight for a walk so I was back at the hotel by 5.20 p.m. and looking out of the window at the rain.  I had to motivate myself so in no time I was jumping on the bed shouting “COME ON, COME ON” and slapping myself in the face when the hotel staff knocked on the door and suggested I leave the hotel for a while, only joking.  But I did go out and set off on my walk.

First I headed to Tottenham Court Road and noticed that at the Dominion Theatre is now showing War of the Worlds musical and I had to admit I was tempted but no, I carried on walking down Oxford Street and then left down to Piccadilly.

I found this statue near Piccadilly which seemed much prettier in real life
From there it was on to Leicester Square

My next photo was that of Les Mis theatre in Leicester Square with the rain still coming down
It was nice to see all the people hovering around the theatres and amazed how busy it was
Then it was time to carry on south to Trafalgar Square and along Westminster taking in Downing Street of course.  I didnt bother with a photo there as it was bouncing down by this time.
After I got to Big Ben I decided to go and have a look at Westminster Abbey as I always seem to go the other way and down to the river.
It looked so lovely, it is a shame the photo from the phone does not do it justice.  But it is nice to see.
As i walked back toward the river I realised I was soaked to the skin, my coat, t-shirt even through to my skin was wet.  My socks were also totally saturated so as I got to Westminster station I decided to call it a day and head back to the hotel and get a hot bath.
I am pleased to say I did and it was blooming lovely along with a hot cup of tea.
The only thing left to do when I got back was to check the steps and I have done 16,445 today and when you do the math that makes 143 miles.  No hang on that doesn't seem right.  I dont know how many miles but it was a blooming long way but I am so pleased I have reached my 15,000 step target.  When I got out of the bath I also realised how much my legs ached which must mean I have done some real mileage today.
But for now, its
Night All
