Day 31 - Hammersmith

On Wednesday morning I awoke in my 6th floor room which is one of the exec rooms and I could certainly get used to this.  Lovely big desk and nice huge bathroom that I was totally at ease to flood the damn thing.  The bath is nice and big and last night before bed I took the chance to have a quick dip and laid back to relax when quite a lot of the water made a bid for freedom behind my back and along the space at the back of my head and onto the floor.  I could hear running water but it was a while before I realised it was running along the bathroom floor.  So I had to start throwing towels down to soak it up. So my nice relaxing bubble bath turned into a frantic clean up operation.
So back to today and it is a very rainy day, one look out of the window and I could see huge blobs of water bouncing down onto the floor.  I will need double motivation to get ready and haul my butt out of my room.  But for now, I will enjoy my first cuppa of the day.
At work it was a case of looking for a couple of chances to get a walk in, I need to keep on top of the 10,000 steps I did yesterday or to be precise 11,400.  The morning was a loss as I was too busy to get out but my Selby colleague did get to drag me out at 12:00 so we took the chance to walk the stations and get a coffee at the Costa on Euston Road.
Work was still busy in the afternoon so it was only one quick once around the stations and then I managed to leave work at just after 6.00 p.m.
The plan tonight was to meet up with my Wigan and Nottingham colleagues and as my Wigan colleague had not been to the Hammersmith area we decided we would go there via the Bottom Bench (the tribute to Rik Mayall) and then to the Blue Anchor which was featured in the closing credits of Minder and a few episodes too.
We all met up at 7.30 p.m. and proceeded by tube to Hammersmith.  We ate at the Blue Anchor so by the time we left it was already approaching 10.00 p.m. and we only just had time to visit the quaint little pub "The Dove" which is really nice with an open fire at which i was perched very close and became very hot, very quickly.  Still it was a nice time talking about so many things and not one of them work which is not normally an easy thing to do when you only have work in common.  So tonight was a nice evening and we all had plenty of laughs.
I arrived back at the hotel at 11:40 p.m. and as you can imagine I am now typing all this up before I put the kettle on for a cuppa whilst I do the crossword.
I know it's late but I like to have that routine as I enjoy it and when you are away from home so much I feel you should do things that you enjoy so it makes being away from home less of a chore.
So with the time ticking on I will say farewell and have my brew and be up early for packing day
Night All
