I arrived at work at 11.15 a.m. and obviously with starting so late there was no time for a walk and bearing in mind I wanted to leave early as I had something planned for tonight.
So the day meant that I worked pretty hard and did as much as I could before at 4.30 p.m. I left the office and headed for the hotel as fast as I could.
I was checked in by 4.50 p.m. and changed and out of the office by 4.55 p.m. I was soon at Russell Square tube station and waiting for the train to Kings Cross. Six minutes was the indication and have to admit not having to wait that long before for a tube at rush hour. When it came it was pretty full, I would have said rammed. Still me and about 500 other passengers still crammed on board and totally crushed with no idea if anyone was going through my pockets, one stop later I was at Kings Cross and rushing to the Hammersmith and City line to meet with my Selby colleague. We met on the platform as agreed and was soon on our way to Whitechapel which would act as our change station for the train to New Cross and the lecture hall.
Today it was the social psychological consequences of conspiracy theories at the University in South London as you can see in the picture below.
It was very interesting, a young man called Doctor Daniel Jolley was very good and gave a good insight into how we think about conspiracy theories. The talk lasted over an hour and so well received was he that there were over 30 minutes of questions which again were very interesting and he handled very well. I came away thinking, yes I can see how we all get wrapped up in the theories and how they can damage society, not just a harmless bit of fun but a necessary evil that we have to have to challenge the norm but have to keep in check and reality.
The journey back was a bit different as the train from New Cross was via London Bridge and the station is next to the shard so gave me a great photo opportunity.
Quite an amazing site as it looked much closer than the photo gave it credit. It was also very well lit up at 8.15 p.m. My Selby colleague and I continue to the Northern Line of the underground and then onto Kings Cross. By this time we were feeling hungry so we partook of a nice chicken breast and salad dinner in the Euston Flyer pub which gave us a bonus of watching a little of the Manchester City game whilst we ate.
We had finished eating by 10:00 p.m. so decided it was time to head back to our respective hotels, him to the Premier Inn and me to my Holiday Inn.
All in all it has been a really nice day and very interesting. Time now to catch up on some work which i must do, after all i did leave very early at 4.30 p.m. but it is the joy of flexible working. So with my work now beckoning I will finish this hastily written blog and bid you all
Night All
