Day 44 - A nice change

Wednesday was not as crazy as yesterday, quite busy at work but on the social side not so.  The only time for a walk was around lunch time when my Selby colleague and I did a couple of laps and ended up a Costa for a coffee.  We chatted about the sad occasion that there was no freebies being handed out in either Kings Cross or St Pancras and mused through life on such topics as, where is everyone going, why is there always someone going somewhere, did you know the moon was hollow according to some people including Isaac Newton and why don’t they bring one of those weekly magazines where you build a boat week by week but do it for building a car week by week.  And then discussed the issues for the postman as he tries to bring you issue 26 which is the one with a driver’s side car door and of course how many issues would it take to build a fully-functioning car.  So basically important things like that.
The late afternoon conversation turned to more mundane things and what were we going to do for the evening and for once we were at a bit of a loss.  What we did do was agree to meet at my hotel at 7.00 p.m. and we did the tried and trusted thing, we walked south toward Leicester Square.  Once there we took in the ambiance of the local street performers before continuing onward toward Piccadilly and then south again toward Trafalgar Square.  I did get the chance to take one photo of the moon over Trafalgar Square and was quite happy with that shot, I did put it on my twitter which is @malrob01 if anyone wants to follow me there.
By now we were getting hungry so we were looking for something with my colleague suggesting steak.  Having seen the Steak prices at a few locations we opted for a place called Little Frankies which is on Whitehall and do two courses for £12.95.  We expected the courses to be quite small but they weren’t and in fact it turned out to be a really nice meal, you could even have a pudding for another couple of quid but we declined as what we had had was plenty and more would have been just greedy.
We bid farewell to the staff and decided to continuing walking towards Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.  It was after 9.00 p.m. and starting to get nippy, as the evening had been very pleasant when setting off I had only worn a jumper and no coat, obviously trousers, socks and shoes also but I was getting at the fact I had no coat or jacket, so I was getting cold and we made an executive decision to catch the tube back to the hotels.  This meant I was back in my room a few minutes before 10.00 p.m. and a rare chance to have a cuppa and relax with the crossword before hitting the hay.
Not a busy night or as action packed as the day before but it did give us a chance for a nice leisurely walk and I did enjoy it for a change.
On the step front it was a 16,500 step day so not as long as normal but it keeps me ahead of my 10,000 I want to hit every day.
