Day 46 - A late Swiss Cottage

I looked out the window this morning and saw a nice sunny day laying ahead, got outside and decided the sun is lying and it is freezing and had to double back for my thicker coat and that was the big news all the way through until lunch time.  Although to be fair there was one first for me, not that I fell asleep on the train coming down to London but that I actually did not wake up until the public speaker system announced we had arrived at Kings Cross and low and behold we were in the platform and people getting off the train.  If she hadn’t of called out I would probably still have been there as the train set off back up north.  I must have been a lot more tired than I had realised.  But at least I was now wide awake as I walked through the station and into the office and raring to get to work.  This lasted about four and a half minutes before I was back to my miserable self.
My walk came just after 1.00 p.m. when I needed to go to the local Tesco and get some fruit, my plan to get fruit from home and bring it with me failed since I forgot the second part of that plan and my family at home will be chewing their way through my bananas.  I obtained some bananas for 80p, pears for £1.00 and apples for £1.00 and decided I needed to buy a 5p bag so the total should be £2.85 however I got charged £2.95.  I instigated an investigation into the overspend and noticed that the lady at the till had charged me for three bags.  Remonstrations were made and I was suitable reimbursed the sum of 10p.  It is the principle.
This week I have chosen a new hotel, it is a Holiday Inn Express which is based on Finchley Road just near Finchley Road Tube Station, idea really.
I left work at 6.15 p.m. and the plan was to get to the hotel and then contact the colleagues and see what was happening, however it took me exactly one hour from leaving the office to getting to the hotel, I was amazed.  By the time I crashed into the room at 7.15 p.m. I was too late to get changed and get back onto the tube system to the centre so decided to have an early night and relax in the hotel.  I popped over to the waitrose across the street and got some grub and spent the next while watching You Tube videos and munching, I couldn’t even relax with a bath as the room only has a shower so a bit disappointed.  I finally decided to turn the lights off at 11:15 p.m. and spent the next several hours tossing and turning with only bits of sleep until about 5.00 a.m. when I went out like a light.

Needless to say, in the morning I was zonked.
