Day 48 Hey we're going backwards

Today has been another full day of interest  it started in Goole and the train to Doncaster  I noticed that a while ago there used to be two guards on the train as there was not enough time to collect the fares from people before the next station was reached as most of the smaller stations do not have ticket offices or machines. Recently they have only had one guard and today I noticed the poor woman could not get through even half of one carriage before she had to go and open the doors. It was surprising how many people didn't get chance to pay for the ticket and I suppose that Northern rail feel it is cheaper to let some people off paying than resource two guards   Anyway we arrived at Doncaster and I was soon on the train to London. All was going well when about 15 minutes from London we all ground to a halt. We were informed that we were going to be some time as someone had been struck by a train. It's tragic that this seems to be getting too frequent and maybe a state of the country that people are feeling so desperate. With this and the news constantly talking about people falling from the Humber bridge it is something I feel someone in authority should be looking at.
I know that my colleague is normally in the train that is just ahead of us on the way to London so I text him and he was also stuck. Eventually it was announced that we would be returning to Stevenage which was about 20 minutes behind us and we would have to board a train that would go a different route into London. And so some 15 minutes later we started travelling back and we arrived in Stevenage about 10 minutes test before a train came to take everyone forward. However the train was rammed full and with our train it was cramped standing room only. I opted to let this train go and waited for the next which was 5 minutes behind and when it came it was totally empty. About 90 minutes late I finally arrived at work and ready for the afternoon ahead. As you can imagine there was no walk around the stations today
But before we left work we made plans to meet up at embankment at 7.00 p.m.
I left work and my hotel this week is in Camden and what a surprise when I got there.  The. Place is buzzing and the high street is amazing. Not one chain shop, or fast food place or charity shop. Only true trading shops and amazing stuff. I wanted to spend some time looking at those and of course Camden market but I was due to meet my colleagues so it was rush in and rush out.  I walked back down the high street and it was so impressive loads to see and could understand why there were a lot of tourist looking people about.
Anyway I met up with my Selby, Nottingham and Wigan colleagues and we crossed the river and strolled along the south bank, past the book stall near the national theatre, past the globe and the Goldern Hind 2.  Through clink market and borough market and as far as we could to London Bridge we back tracked a little and got food in the Anchor pub which was very reasonable priced and not bad food. I won't say superb but not bad.
By the time we had walked north of the river it was time for me to get a tube and head back to the hotel. Arriving at about 10.00 p.m.
I have some photos but cannot get them from my camera until tomorrow so I will post them then.
The old gadgets say that today's walking totalled some 15,812 steps so not bad after some days of not walking much.
That is all for now so time to say
Goodnight
