Think I found a sink hole or two

Hey I’m back after a brief rest byte and a brief trip away, which has got me in a bit of a ranty mood.  I decided to head to deepest Lancashire for a trip to Formby and a walk along the beach.  What a lovely place to take some time out and one I would recommend to anyone, amazing lovely place, although that could be due to the sun shining and some real warmth coming through.

My problem is with the journey there.  I was travelling along the M62 and M6 and various little roads and started to notice what I couldn’t describe as pot holes, more like sink holes.  What the hell is happening to the roads when you see some of the deepest trenches, one on the M6 should be called the Marianas it was so big.  Hope you got that geographical reference there.

In a car it is bad enough worrying about whether your car will survive the journey but for motorcyclists then it must be damn scary.  How can we let our roads be in such a state that members of the biking community have to risk their lives to venture out of their home town.  I would be interested to note that if anyone is hurt of god forbid killed through a pothole would anyone be accountable.  Moving on and thinking about pavements and the state they are in but even so they would not cause deaths, or you wouldn’t expect them to do.

You have to wonder why in a extremely rich country as our is, why basic infrastructure is failing so badly and my only assessment can be that we have greedy people that are happy to accept as much as they can whilst not thinking of the greater good of the country.  I think we are becoming increasingly insular and I am not sure why.  It seems at one point people were becoming nationistic ( I know that’s not a word) and then seem to be tribal about their towns but now we are just caring about our selves and very close families.  Is that a sign of the times.

I do believe that, similar to now where we look at old times as dark times or the dark ages, we will look back at this time and call it the time of the greed.  When all mankind was interested in was accumulating wealth at the expense of the well being of others.

What started me on this track was when I was just looking at Google maps and meandering around the world as I do when I spotted that Ethiopia and  Eritrea which are fantastically poor countries with people starving to death and when you look at the map it is just a hop over some water to Saudi Arabia which must be one of the richest countries with stories of people with gold plated rolls Royce’s and mega houses in London and other chic capitals.  It is such a shame that they could not care a little for their neighbours and do something.  I know there are politics etc but really, we are all humans.

I’m leaving it there for today as I will start to get depressed.
