Not a bad day today at work, very quiet with very few problems so I managed to leave before 6.00 p.m. and got a lift to the hotel which meant I was out on the street before 6.30 p.m. and it was still light, this threw me a little as I didn’t recognise things, I thought about walking around with my eyes shut but not such a good idea I thought with all the traffic and cycles about. Anyway I had a walk to Norreport which is about a mile and a half from the hotel and had a look around the two glass markets. It was very interesting. The first of the markets sold fish, meat and fruit and veg, the fish looked very exotic with a lot of species I didn’t recognise, to be fair if it isn’t a crab or covered in batter I would hold out much hope of me winning a quiz in fish.
The second market was even better, it had a few coffee bars, and a lot of cake stalls. The cakes were superb, they looked fantastic and could have eaten any of them if not all. I think they have catered for people eating too much by putting the price tags on them. There were expensive, some small cakes about the size of an individual wrapped sweet were the equivalent of a pound each. They looked good but the price didn’t. I also noticed it seemed quite the thing to sell coffee and a slice of cake for 55 krona which equates out around £7.00. They seem to sell a lot of them, just not to people from Britain who are tight.
So after the markets it was a walk around the centre and back to the hotel, but as I walked around I thought there seems to be a lot of fancy dress shops then I realised these were genuine clothes shops, the clothes where pretty way out. One shop called Black Lane 1 and that was not the address I am not that thick, seemed to cater for people who wanted to wear black tops and white trousers as they sold nothing else. Then the next was called S & M and oh my god, at first I didn’t realise and saw this like leather strap and thought I could do with a good strong lead for the dog, i wonder how much they are, then I saw the rest of the stuff, I was stunned, stunned enough to look for about 20 seconds before feeling conspicuous of looking in a shop like that. I thought, I wish I had my camera as no one will believe the stuff they have in there then thought I am glad I haven’t as I would probably be arrested. I continued on my walk wondering how these shops stay open selling the stuff they do, I am sure they wouldn’t last a week in the Goole High Street.
It is now 9.00 p.m. and I have just got back to the hotel and jotting down a few lines before carrying on with my writing for this evening. I have a lie in tomorrow as I don’t need to be in reception until 7.30 a.m. as I am getting a lift into work so my last time on the metro from the centre of Copenhagen was this morning, sad really as I didn’t know that at the time.
Still it is home tomorrow and looking forward to being at home for a full week before the trip begins. Remember this blog was just a practise for our holiday so it will all start again on Friday 30th March when we set off for the Capital and the hotel we have booked for the night before the flight. Then over two weeks of New York and scary driving across America. I think before we set off I will watch the film Paul again and wonder if we will see anything unusual as we make our way across deserts and states.
For now it is time to sign off and maybe a chance to update the blog before I go home tomorrow.
Night all.
