The journey home today has been a bit of a slog, I left the airport at 10:00 and started my drive, but as I had a conference call to do at 11:00 I pulled into a service station just before and settled to have a coffee and catch up some emails on the free wifi supplied. Then it was off again but as I approached Zaventum Airport I had to find somewhere to fuel up so it involved another stop. I suppose I got to the airport a little early so there was a couple of hours to sit around before I could check in, but this gave me a bit of time to once again do some more work. I was pleased to hand over the car as although the journey was OK not too busy they have a tendency to speed up behind you and then sit right on your bumper even when your doing 80 m.p.h. or 130 k.p.h. I know they do this in the UK but you may only see if occasionally, here it is every few minutes. So much so you get quite immune to it and it doesn’t make you go any faster or pull in to the slower lane any quicker.
At least the airport has a comfy area that you can sit and relax while waiting for the plane even if there is not free wifi so i could have browsed “la tinternet”. One thing I would like to see is all governments making public places like airports and stations and even public buildings all have tinternet access free of course, especially when most of what they want you to do is only available on line. I will vote for anyone next time who says they will do this, so if you want my vote Mssrs Cameron, Milliband, Clegg, even Griffiths then all you have to do is flood the world with radioactive wifi signals and..... hang on, I may need to think about this one again.
The flight home was another chance for a quick hour snooze before the trek home. A little longer than it should have taken as there was a lot of traffic around Manchester and then a broken down bus meant that two lanes were closed on the M62 and a few miles of standing traffic meant I didn’t get home until 8.00 p.m.
It has been a long week or at least feels like a long week with finishing off my last project and now starting a new one all in the same week and as I have said before it take a couple of weeks to get up to speed so next week will be a big learning curve for me.
So it is now shut down for the weekend until we do it all again on Monday at about 5.30 a.m. when I set off for Manchester Airport.
