Day 21 - Dunkirk - Early Morning Start

Back to France today but it has been very different, firstly it is Wednesday so almost the end of the week and I have only just started.  Secondly I am here with two colleagues from the UK so it is nice to have some company, in the office at work, the journey from Brussels to Dunkirk and around the hotel.  So we celebrated by going out for a walk and that was a damn mistake.  It is freezing out there, not sure if the temperature is above actual zero Celsius, but it is cold and the wind makes it feel worse.  Dunkirk is the same as it has been for the past four weeks with very few people about and nothing happening but it is looking more and more likely that next week will be my last here as then I move onto Genk, which, for the non geographical people about, is almost on the Belgium / German border but still in Belgium.  I am looking forward to seeing a different city and I have been told Genk is suppose to be very nice.

The only other thing of note today was the hire car, I was offered a people carrier but to be honest the cost is a little silly so I prompted for the Vauxhall or Opel as they call it over here, Corsa.  Not only is it the smallest car they do but it seems absolutely wrecked.  The scratches and dents on the car were almost a pattern and added to the quaintness of it or would have done had there not been more dents and scratches than actual car.  On the hire car form where they mark the damage before you take it, it looks like the guy has attempted to colour the picture of the car in using his biro.  As for the engine it sounds like it is going to break down at any minute so goodness knows what it has been through to say it has only 12,000 k.m.’s on it.  As long as it gets me back to the airport on Friday then I don’t mind really.

I have done the blog a little earlier tonight as I was hoping to watch some football on television before doing this and retiring but there is none on so I am updating this before heading off for bed, considering I didn’t sleep last night with me having to set off at 02:00 for the early flight then I think I have managed well for an old bloke.
