We start today’s blog with some bad news. Two things alarmed me, one was the fact then when I awoke a guy was climbing onto my balcony, turned out he was a workman and he had come to tighten the screws on the balcony handrail. Bloody good job I didn’t lean against it or I may have ended up on the road below. Still reeling from the shock of that I went down to breakfast and although Larry is still hanging in there, two of his tank mates have not fared so well. They were missing upon inspection this morning. Only three lobsters remain so all I can assume is that some sort of lobster feeding frenzy took place last night in the dining room and two lobsters were consumed by people who have a different outlook to me. It almost put me off my corn flakes, so much so I opted for cornflakes with dried bits of fruit in them as a treat to get over the bad news. Out of defiance I also took not only a banana and an apple from the fruit bowl but sneaked another two apples out as well. It will serve the hotel right for their obvious cruelty to animal rights. I do feel a little hypocritical as i had tuna for tea tonight although it was from a can and I consoled myself with the thought now a days there is probably very little tuna in there, probably horse and I don’t like horses that much.
I will continue on the animal front as today I had to travel from Genk to Dunkirk for another marathon meeting and during the 300 km drive with my French colleague, (who I may add does not share my view about Larry and confirmed that he in fact has lobster on special occasions and they taste beautiful. Not such special occasions for the lobster I think), anyway I digress, so after about two hours we decided we would take a stop at a motorway cafe and get a coffee, of which they were doing a deal of a coffee and a croissant for 2 euros. So I made a deal, he bought the coffee and I donated my croissant and the biscuit that came with it to him. I thought that was a good deal. On the way out while I waited for him to come out of the loo there were some brochures on display and one for a reptile zoo, it looked fascinating so I took it, the brochure not the zoo.
After work and the meeting which I thought was never going to end, why when I asked a question that required a yes or no answer did it take over 5 minutes of the person talking in French when my French colleague turned to me and said, effectively she said yes. Why use one word when 300 would do. I thought no wonder Victor Hugo’s book is so damn long if he had the same standard of communication. ( A French literature joke thrown in there, that shows the depth of my thinking).
So after work I launched the old google and found the reptile zoo and it is only a few kilometres out of my way on the way back to the airport so I am going to pay it a visit and I am right looking forward to it. I have an early morning meeting to do, trying to secure resource for the project work to come and then it will be off to the Serpentarium at Blankenberge where apparently they let you handle a black mamba of which I will not be taking part. If it is like the rest of health and safety around here it is probably still venomous and in a bad mood when they hand it to you.
Finally below is a picture of Larry and his mate, see if you can tell which is Larry
So as the Chelsea game is coming to a close on the telly and it is 10:45 p.m. it is time to shut up and got to bed, so
Night all
