Day 52 - Ostrava to Home - Flight Issues

So the plan today was
  1. to rise early and partake in breakfast
  2. get to the railway station in Ostrava
  3. purchase tickets, find the train and get to Prague
  4. Find the bus to the airport and arrive at airport
  5. Check in and catch flight to Bligty and go home.
All was going so well until part 5 when we checked in to be told the flight was delayed until 18:00 a full two hours late.  Still, not a disaster just a minor inconvenience, but at 16:00 the original time for the flight information became available to say our plane would not be leaving its previous destination until 17:30 and it has two hours to get to Prague, we would not be departing until 20:00 at the earliest.  We were deposited with a voucher for the equivalent of £3.00 and sent off in search of sustenance.   Even with the prices as minimal as they are here this only left you with a very small option but at least it was more than I was expected as the price of a coffee alone on the check in side of the security was almost £3.00.
So it was nice to get a voucher and to be able to get some refreshment for the four hour delay but first of all the instruction of where to get the voucher was very vague and even asking staff around the airport they had no idea, eventually we found a sign for the place to collect the voucher which was well hidden and as you can imagine very few people found it, at least whilst I was there.  But the attitude of the lady was, “here, you get a voucher”.  “Where can we spend it” we asked.  “95% of places take it” was the answer.
So we did find somewhere to take it but there was no apology for the delay and almost an irritation that we had uncovered the secret desk where the vouchers were plenty.
As we had a good chance to look around the airport I can say that it is very clean and pleasant area, and apart from the Easyjet staff who must be specially chosen people, we found everyone to be friendly and as helpful as possible.  As normal in an airport everything in the shops is extortionately priced with trinkets such at Mugs and key rings many pounds when converted.  The airport seemed very quiet compared to the others of similar size I have been in.  The downside is that with so much time to kill it would have been nice to have had free wifi but alas this was not the case and so this meant some very dull time to kill playing that old fashioned game called conversation.
Eventually we set off from Prague at just before 9.00 p.m.  which meant it was almost 10:00 p.m. when we set down.  At least the airport was quiet at that time and we managed to get a bus to the car park pretty quickly.  At that time of night you would hope that the roads would also be pretty clear but unfortunately and understandable there seems to be a lot of roadworks taking place and with the delays I rolled into town not much before 1.00 a.m.
With the joy of a home working day scheduled for Friday it meant that I could enjoy a full weekend for the first time since March.  So until Monday when it is back to France it is
Night All
