Another Tuesday start this week but before I look back to today I will look back to last week and Friday when I returned home.
It was my journey from Luxembourg to Birmingham and back through Amsterdam. At least I was ready for the crazy security and so didn’t buy any liquid and glad I didn’t as I went through two securities before getting to the gate and being put through a third before boarding the plane. At least this week the plane was on time and I was in Birmingham on time and back home by 7.00 p.m.
Back to today and it was an early start having to be leaving home before 6.00 a.m. and this time heading to Manchester for another trek through Terminal 1. With it being Tuesday it was slightly quieter and I only had a ten or so minute wait to use the lifts that take you to check in. My first strange event happened as I walked from security through the shops.
In Manchester and a few other airports the door from security to the gate leads you through the main shop selling duty free etc. A couple of weeks ago I was walking through the shop when a lady approached and mistook me for someone else and started trying to talk to me. She walked over and said Ralph Loran and I said no Malcolm Robinson and continued walking, this time another lady walked over and said Calvin somebody or other, didn’t catch the full name and I again said no and carried on walking. I now think it may be some rouse for them to find out your name and maybe then try to sell you something.
Today my journey was to Dusseldorf as I have a meeting this week in Cologne and thought I would stay at a really nice hotel I stayed in a few years ago in Krefeld however I couldn’t find the same one and am staying in a Mecure in Krefeld which to be fair is very nice.
The hotel has a nice pool which I have already taken advantage of. I then took a walk in the local vicinity to see what was around here and then settled in a little bar at the end of the street and had a couple of cokes. The weather is pleasantly warm, not at all hot so it has been a pleasant walk. Now I must admit with the walk, the swim and the early morning I am shattered and going to have an early night. As it is up early to drive to Cologne for the meeting I should be able to get another chance to samply my Quosh Quo or whatever Nissan call their 4 x 4.
So for now it is night all.
