Another, what has seemed like a long day, it was time to get up when the clock stuck 6.00 a.m. as I wanted to have an hour or so doing some mails before having to get ready to leave for my meeting. Whilst I had awoken in a hotel in Krefeld near Dusseldorf the meeting was due to take place in Cologne so it was a journey that should have taken only thirty minutes that actually took over an hour due to the traffic and apparently according to the locals that was a quick journey so for future if I have to come back to Cologne it would be best to lodge somewhere closer.
The meeting started at 10:00 and finished when we finally ended at 4.00 p.m. We did manage to have thirty minutes for lunch but all in all it was a meeting where effectively I spoke for almost five hours, the only rest bite coming when a colleague from Lithuania was centre stage for twenty minutes.
The drive home was as long as it was there and mainly because of the road system trying to get out of Cologne, it seems they are happy to get you into the city but not so keen to get you out. I finally escaped through some back road and struggled through the traffic until I was back at the hotel and I must admit as I switched off the engine I thought wow, I’m shattered. I really felt like going to the room and having a quick hour, but no rest of the wicked and all that and it was time to get through the emails I had missed all day and return some calls that I had also missed. That took me through to very late and I am just typing this up before crashing into bed for what I hope will be a good night sleep. With only the airport to go to tomorrow and some early morning meetings I can do from the hotel it would be nice to stay in bed until 8.00 a.m.
On the car from i have the old Nissan Quosh Quo, I can never spell it and it is a different model to the one I had in Brussels. This is a manual petrol version with less bells and whistles so no reverse camera and fancy radio, but I am pleased to say, as good a drive as the last one I had. I wasn’t a big fan of 4 X 4’s but this is an exception and I do like it. All I have to do tomorrow is get it back in one piece and my week is over as I can go home. I still have Friday to work but at least I shall be home. Then I have one more travel week before I have one week of none travel and the first since the 3rd March.
So for now, nite all.
