Back on the road for the 29th week of travel and it is back to Luxembourg. The route this week was back via Amsterdam and in the past I have said that I didnt like Schipol as I find the airport busy and the facilities appearing not to cope with that number of people going through. However this time it was better. The usual security check that is situated right in the middle of the airport is just a queue of fed up people standing around for almost an hour with panicky people dashing past everyone in the queue as they were late for their plane. This time it was different, the queue was the smallest I have seen and therefore was through in good time. It was not because it was not as busy as normal but because someone had had a brainwave of opening all of the security channels. It was amazing how much that changed the speed of the throughput of good natured travelers.
It was an early start but not as early as planned as my alarm went off as normal at 3.15 a.m. only for me to switch it off and lay back down thinking, oh well better get up and then I woke up and it was almost 4.00 a.m. Funny how just 45 minutes earlier I had no motivation but at 4.00 a.m.I had loads, enough in fact to get up and be down the stairs before I had almost opened my eyes. Much to the shock of the dog who was laid out fast asleep when I hurtled past him.
The journey was good but I was surprised how much traffic was around this morning but it didnt hamper me getting to Birmingham Airport by just after 06.30 a.m. I had my usual breakfast of posh coffee and then took the chance to catch up on a bit of work whilst waiting for the first flight of the day.
Luxembourg was as I remembered it, as I had been there only the week before and as it's a team meeting week it means that quite a few of my colleagues are here. Which is why we are all sat in our respective hotel rooms, we are a very social bunch.
Speaking of social I got chatting to a nice guy at Lux airport, I have seen him a few times as we seem to catch the same planes from Birmingham to somewhere and then on to Luxembourg, it reminded me why I like travelling as meeting people has to be up there as another of the perks.
So tonight it has been a chance to listen to some podcasts I have had for a while, have a nice long bath and then actually relax, which I was glad about as I was tired after such a shock start to the day.
So with nothing really done today I am going to sign off and hope that tomorrow brings something of interest.
Night All
