Today was simple due to be a day to travel home. A couple of meetings to do when I hit back home to the UK but that was all. In reality it turned out to be a very long day indeed. We didn't have to leave the hotel until 9.00 a.m. So we could take our time and have some breakfast before the short journey to the airport. Breakfast was taken and it was a good one which you would expect from a Sofitel style hotel. 9.00 a.m. came and we departed the hotel and I drove to the airport. I was quite pleased with my efforts with regards to driving around Warsaw. The airport was as you expect a nice modern compact building with everything you need. The flight home was routine and when I hit Heathrow it was straight through to the car park and into the car, all going well so far.
When I had arrived at the parking the automatic barriers had not identified my car and I was told by "The Voice of the machine" to take a ticket and contact them when leaving the car park. This I duly did and as I was leaving put the car park I entered my ticket into the slot and found that I owed £215.00 for the pleasure of parking for 4 days. Some breathing exercises later I contacted "The Voice" and to be fair they sorted quite quick and I was on my way. The problem was it was now 2.30 p.m. and the first of my two calls were about to start and our conf call number picked that time to fail so I had to get to a services to dial the new number and basically sat for almost an hour doing the call. Then with the normal afternoon/evening traffic it mean I was on the road for 6 hours. As you can imagine by the time I reached home I was shattered and hence the late arrival of the blog.
My views on my first trip to Poland was that the people again are very nice, Krakow was similar to Prague In the architecture that was around the city and it is easy to understand why a lot of tourists from around the world do visit. Some of the places I would like to see if I go back and have a bit more time would be Auswitz (not sure how you spell it) as it would be wrong not to see something that has defined our history so much and also the salt mines which look very interesting. Unfortunately I did not see much of Warsaw as we only drove through but it does look like a nice city with all the usual amenities. I shall look forward to a return should I get the chance.
Night all
