T minus 12 days - It starts again

After five months working from home my work travel is due to start again.  But this time it is not Europe as I have changed projects in that time and now work on a project to deploy IT infrastructure to a company based in the USA.  Precisely speaking I will be based in small town called Hobbs in New Mexico and will have to be over there for two weeks at a time which is not how I like it to be but I dont have any option on this one.
So when does it all start I hear you cry.  Well if you look in the title you can see it is in 12 days time so stop asking silly questions.
I received authorisation to travel, which makes me laugh a little as they ask me to go, I need to put together all the costs for the two weeks and then ask them to approve. It is not like a holiday and would be happy to stay at home.  I have got used to been at home after five months of going nowhere.  So I put the costs together and have received the said approval and now I have a 09:30 flight from London Heathrow which will mean leaving home in the very early hours of the morning, probably around 03.00.  I arrive at Houston, Texas some ten hours later and four hours after that board a flight for Hobbs arriving at the local time of 19:00 where upon I have had a meeting arranged for a quick catch up call.  Not sure how coherent I will be after been awake for 23 hours when you consider the time difference and all that time travelling.  But no rest and all that as I have to then start work on site the next day.
I am hoping that been there for two weeks will give me a chance to look around and having the weekend will also give me some time.  Unfortunately there is no company for me so I expect I will be doing all of this on my lonesome.
On the hotel front I am not too sure, the locals say it is a nice one, new and where everyone books but it does seem a little basic which is not the problem, the problem is that there seems to be cheaper ones that are better equipped but we shall see when I get there.
In truth after spending so long at home I am a little nervous about the journey although my dearest does think once I am back on the road it will be like old times but in reality I don't think I have had so long at home without travelling which has made me a little wary of going out there again.  Still, what doesn't kill you and all that.
That is all for now, as I get a little close then I will start regular posts and of course once I am on my way, I shall do regular updates.
