Day 12 - New things to see

So the plan today was to do my training call at 7.30 and I set up my computer and dialled in to find that the training call was not due until tomorrow, failed there then.
So I set off to walk to work and as I approached the office I work in I was walking past a line of taxis as I do every morning outside of Kings Cross station and noticed for the first time that four of the seven taxi drivers were women.  I have to admit I have not noticed a female taxi driver before.  Obviously nothing wrong in the fact of female taxi drivers but I just havent seen one before in all my time in London and through the years of using taxis.  it is not like the first time I saw a female train driver and decided to get off the train, only joking, I did not even think of getting off the train. I have seen plenty of female airline pilots, train drivers but not taxi drivers.  As you can see that thought took up most of my thinking for the first few hours of the day. That and looking around for any April fool jokes that might be evident in the office but I should have guessed  that the people around here would not be into April fools jokes and it was just an ordinary day in Dodge.
As the afternoon progressed the sun shone in through the windows and the tourists outside filed past and made me want to go out and stretch my legs more and more.  The problem was I was busy with meeting after meeting until finally I decided I was going to take a cigarette break, I dont see why not being a smoker should stop me from a cigarette break.

I wanted to try and get my usual work around Kings Cross and St Pancras but that was not to be.
I also wanted to try and get out of work at a reasonable time and maybe get a walk into London.  I think I put that every single week but something always crops up and that was the case tonight.  I finally left work at 6:45 p.m. and by the time I had got changed at the hotel it was 7.15 and my boss was keen to hit a pub before getting some lunch and not a lot I could do but agree to go with him.  We had just the one drink at a pub close by (thank goodness) before back to the hotel for an evening meal.  By the time 10:00 p.m. came I was ready for bed and just enough energy to do the blog before I will crawl between the sheets. I do think it is a shame to be here in the capital and not get out as often as possible but as it is only my boss and I, then I have a responsibility to stick with him and that means doing what he wants.  But it doesn't help leaving work so late which does not leave anytime for anything else.
Looking forward, and tomorrow is going home day and that always picks me up.  Before that I have the small matter of the training call in the morning at 7.30 before rushing to work for my day job.
So for now it is a very tired good night from me.
