Another irritation this morning is the damn toothpaste that my wife has bought, I know I have had it for a little while now but it seems to taste worse the more I use of it, the problem is it does make your teeth nice and white but a bit of mint wouldn't have gone amiss in the production of it.
London's streets seemed much busier today, whether it is because I am based close to three stations, Euston, St Pancras and Kings Cross and the number of travelers has increased for the Easter holidays but just walking down the street with my case trundling along behind me seemed to take ages to get the few hundred yards to the office.
Today is going home day but what is better is that when I have finished work it is going home time and holiday time, a full four days off. The down side is that I have to leave work and then spend over three hours on the train and waiting in stations before I can close down for the long weekend, but I am looking forward to it.
The day itself did not go too bad as we operate a hot desk policy and therefore you have different people sat around you each day and today were a couple of guys over from the United States so I spent a bit of time chatting about the U.S. which is always interesting. Nice people as well.
I left the office with a little bit of a spring in my step and approached Kings Cross in the same vain as I was approaching the Easter holiday and then bang it hit me, Kings Cross was the busiest I have ever seen it, it was packed, there were queues for everything, the ticket machine queue must have been a hundred yards long (I am an imperial man). The chappie on the tannoy was shouting, dont bother getting your tickets as the trains will accept your booking reference as a ticket, what he really meant was the aisles were so rammed with people that no conductor was going to get anywhere near you to check your tickets. As we were on the train in the station people were banging on the windows from the platform asking others to move further along to let more people on the train. I was stood in a little corner with about ten other people crammed with my face glued to the window.
It was ridiculous the amount of people on one train. I was crammed so close to a chap who I can only describe as being from Nottingham (Andy will get that) that we could do nothing but talk to each other as we were stood closer than I have been to my wife for a while.
The next two hours was me standing trying to keep moving my feet as I was getting uncomfortable from not been able to move and as the train buffeted along the most common word you could here in the carriage was, Sorry! Literally every few seconds it was,Sorry, oh sorry, ooo sorry about that and so on. By the time the doors opened at Doncaster and we spilled onto the platform was so glad to just move my legs.
At those times and as I was bouncing along the journey you cannot help but feel annoyed and look for someone to blame for this chaos but to be fair, it is just one of those times of the year when people travel on mass and you cannot plan for it. It is uncomfortable and I got home shattered but at least I am home now and have four days with the family which is not a lot to go through to be back at home safe and with the people who mean the most to you.
So on that note I bid you all farewell from another few days of travel and look forward to a nice break before I am allowed to do it all again and next time try harder to get out of my rut and get some travelling done around the London center.
Night All
