Yesterday certainly did the trick and a good night sleep was enjoyed. So much so that when the alarm went off at 6.30 a.m. I was already up and around and getting ready to go get some breakfast.
For the first time the weather was such that I left my coat in the hotel and braved the morning light just in my suit jacket. The weather is turning nicely into summer.
Another bit of good news for my planned walk tonight, my boss is heading home today therefore I have no colleagues with me in London and all good for my planned walk down toward the centre. I had my route planned which was to head west from the hotel for about three or four streets until I found the A400 and then it was a straight walk south until you hit Tottenham Court Road.
All was going well and I had made my decision that I would be out of work by 6.00p.m. even if I had to do some work when I got back to the hotel after my walk.
But then disaster struck, one of the guys in the office saw me at 5.30p.m. and said I want to talk to you about your project and I thought, NOOOOOO why me, dont talk about my project, it's rubbish, I'm rubbish, the project is crashing and burning, please don't bother talking to me about my project.
At this point I would like to point out that this is just a joke and really I am a very good project manager specialising in large scale physical deployments of hardware, as well as virtual cloud projects and available to be taken from my current employment for an offer of more mulah. And after my one and a half hour meeting I can say I am extremely good at microsoft project software as he complimented me on my well managed plan. Ha! get that Leicester and Nottingham colleagues. Let me know if you need any tips in project scheduling.
Anyway back to the story, he said it would only be for a couple of hours and my heart sank. But I manned up and had the meeting and was walking purposefully out of the office by 6.45p.m. After a short pit stop at the hotel to change I decided to get the tube down to Leicester Square and make that my starting point.
I like Leicester Square as it is always buzzing with people but I kept going and made my way down to Trafalgar Square and then through to Westminster. Accross the water and onto the southbank which wasnt as buzzing as I hoped it would be. Eventually I crossed back over to the North Bank and walked passed the Gherkin and toward Liverpool Street Station. It was starting to get dark so I grabbed some dinner form Tescos, i thought they need the money at the moment so I will give them some business, before hopping on the tube and making my way back to Kings Cross and the hotel.
I got back just as the little hand hit 9.00 p.m. so only out about 2 hours but it was nice just to get out of the work/hotel routine.
Not really much to report on my walk, it was busy with the usual tourists and as I walked down toward Parliament Square passed the govenment offices the workers were coming out and I thought at least I have finished earlier than them tonight.
So I managed to get back to the hotel and caught up on a few you tube videos before retiring for the night and my last sleep before I can head off back home tomorrow after work.
So for now, night all
