Another good night sleep and that was mainly due to being in bed before 11:00 p.m. So by the time the alarm was about to go off at 6.45 a.m. I was already up and getting the kettle warmed. The usual ritual of switching on the TV and catching up on the BBC breakfast program and taking my time to check emails, get a few bits fired off and of course getting ready. I have probably said before that I don't mind when I don't have breakfast included in the room rate as I tend to enjoy more time to get ready and like that fact I have about an hour and a half to get ready for work. Today, of course, is packing day so that took almost a full three minutes out of my getting ready time. Even though the sun was shining again I was going to be prepared and made sure I had my scarf and gloves available.
The journey to work was the usual hassle, managing to seem to be walking in the opposite direction to everyone else in the whole of London. At one point I tried to get behind a bloke and use him as a sort of break water against my fellow humans, but that lasted all of about five seconds before he seem to blend in and disappear.
On our first walk of the day at about 11:00 a.m. I thought it may be a good idea to go looking for buskers at Kings Cross and see if anyone was there this time, but no, nothing. It really does seem that busker day was a disaster. We ended the walk by going through Kings Cross to see if there were any freebies on offer but again we were left with nothing but disappointment.
Although it was quite a busy day at work we did manage to get a second walk in at 3.00 p.m. when we decided we would hit Costa and have a coffee. Which was a good excuse to spend twenty minutes looking out of the window into Euston Road and watching what was going on. It is at this point we seem to have picked up on two things, how many Addison Lee cars that seem to be driving around. Addison Lee seems to be a company that provides cars to pick people up bit like a sort of private hire taxi company but they have very posh black cars. Quite a lot seem to pass us every time we are sat enjoying our afternoon coffee.
By the time we got back it was time for my Selby colleague's train so it was a bid farewell and happy weekend and then I got back to work until my train at 6:50 p.m.
The time soon passed and I was heading out the door and across the square to Kings Cross Station.
As for the journey home, it started a little awkwardly and I will explain. As the doors to the train opened I found my reserved seat and sat down. The seat next to me was not reserved but soon after I had sat down a young woman asked if it was anyone's seat and I said no so she sat down. Then after a minute or so she stood up and put down a box of food on the seat and promptly went off somewhere. As you can imagine other people started to get on the train and looking for seats and assuming I was an A**hole and had put my foodbox on the other seat to stop people sitting there, people started to ask me if i could move my box. I then had to keep explaining that this was not my box and that some woman had left it there. It was ok when I was explaining but I felt awkward as some people were looking at me and I am sure they were just assuming I was some ignorant pig. So much so that when I did get a chance to explain I was doing it so loudly to make sure all around me could see it was not my stopping people from sitting there. meanwhile the woman did not return to her seat until we were a good 10 minutes into the journey and about 20 minutes after she had put the box down. You may wonder why I was thinking like that but that is because I have seen a lot of people who have reserved seats actually sit into the non reserved seat at the side of theirs and then let people think someone is going to use the reserved seat which I think is the most ignorant thing you can do so when people think I have done something similar then it bothers me.
Anyway the train was a perfect ten minutes late so I had 10 minutes less on Doncaster station to wait and was soon then home by just after 10.00 p.m. and all ready for one more workday from home before the weekend.
Before I go this week I will add that I decided to take a video of my hotel room so that I can show what type of room I stayed in this week and below is the link to you tube to my hotel room. Also feel free to check out some of my other videos particularly ones showing my lovely St Bernard dog or me shooting guns in New Mexico which was great fun at the time.
