"So what did you do last night?"
"I went to the church hall for the practices of the concert as (bloke's name) was going through his routine. The problem was he started singing my favourite song from the Eagles and he was murdering it. The more he carried on the more he annoyed me, I was going to punch him in the face. I said to (partners name) if he doesn't stop I am going to punch him"
"And did he stop"
"No he carried on and I was so close to going up and knocking him out, he was crap and I told him so when he finished singing."
"What did he say"
"He wasn't that happy but I told him I was going to have to knock him out if he sang that song on the night."
If you add a few more colourful words in between then you will have got that conversation exactly right. For me, it passes the time.
On the way to London the full details of what was happening at Brussels was coming through and it is so sad when you think of those poor people travelling to work or on holiday and that happens. It is a very sad world when we all can't get on with each other.
Work was busy again so it seem to fly and was soon almost 6.00 p.m. and time to leave. The plan tonight is to follow a walk I have downloaded from the internet called Lights, camera, action with the blurb saying, "visit the actual locations where many famous films were shot".
So as I type in my hotel room getting ready to go and meet my Wigan colleague and my Selby colleague I shall report back later and hopefully with photos.
With just a short time to get ready before having to be out of the door and on my way to Blackfriars Tube Station. We had all agreed to meet on Millennium Bridge as this was the first point on our walk for tonight.
Below is a picture of the view looking east with Tower Bridge toward the left and the shard to the right.
My Selby colleague and I met up but our Wigan colleague was running late so we admired the scene and I read my walk information which said that it was the bridge that the Deatheaters from Harry Potter destroyed as well as the bridge scene in Love Actually. We also looked at the Blackfriars Bridge which is famous for the film The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus which featured Heath ledger in his last film.
We eventually walked up to Fleet Street and met up with our Wigan colleague who joined us as we partook of refreshment and then food. Two of us had a chicken pie with mash and veg and one had game pie with mash etc. It was very nice and thoroughly enjoyed.
After that we walked via the Old Bailey, Bart's Hospital (which featured Sherlock and Bridget Jones), Smithfield market (which featured in Dorean Gray as a double for Kings Cross Station) and then on past the Barbican and finally to Leadenhall Market and the small street where they filmed the Diagon Alley scene for Harry Potter. Below is a picture from the alley.
We then moved on and walked toward Liverpool Street (which featured in Mission Impossible with Tom Cruise). As it was now past 10.30 p.m. we decided to jump on the tube to get back to Kings Cross. We said our good nights and the short walk back to my hotel for me.
The night has been fun, and a good walk, covering some 17,759 steps which equates to 6.7 miles for the day. And of course it kept me up with my 15,000 steps for the day target.
So back in my room and having finished updating the blog by 11.30 p.m. it is time to make a cup of tea and a quick look at the crossword to get me ready for sleep.
So for now, its
Night All
