It was my usual walk to the station but it had an unusual flavour as one with my ticket in hand and waiting for the train an announcement was made to say that some trains would be replaced by buses which was a bit of an issue I thought as I may miss my London train however lucky for me but not for the peole going to Hull, the busses were not for my line.
The train journey was pleasant looking out over sun drenched fields.
However it was once I arrived in Kings Cross that things got interesting. I walked down the side of my train to the exit and noticed a lot of steam coming from the next platform and low and behold it was not a train on fire but a steam train.
So I was straight over there and got some pics and a video which I have put a link to below.

Work was delayed by a few minutes but it was well worth the watch
I managed to get one walk around the stations in the afternoon but my Selby colleague is on holiday so I did the walk solitary.
At nearly six p.m. I set off to the hotel with the instruction that I would meet my Wigan and Nottingham colleague at 7.30 p.m. for a venture.
Having 45 minutes in the hotel was nice to chill and have a cup of tea before I set off in search of adventure.
When we all met up at Kings Cross station it was onto the tube as my wigan colleague had suggested we visit Sir Iam McKellen's pub, the guy who played Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings.
We alighted the tube at Canary Wharf and I took a little video of the immediate area as it looked really nice. Here is a link to that video.

A view of the river from Canary Wharf
We wanted to walk but even for us the walk back to the hotels from Limehouse would be adventurous. So we caught the Docklands Light Railway to Bank station and walked it from there. It was a nice walk through the streets with plenty of people around and with it being quite warm it made it double nice.
I arrived finally back at the hotel just a few minutes before midnight and early enough to ensure my fellow colleagues did not change back into mice (that was a cinderalla reference there, you get educated puns on this blog).
I expected to sleep well with all the walking but unfortunately that did not occur and was still awake at 2.00 a.m. and then 3.00 a.m. and again was awake at 5.00 a.m. I finally gave up and got out of bed for a cup of tea at 6.00 a.m. Needless to say this morning I am totally shattered and just wishing for the bed.
