I hit work like a wrecking ball, that should be a song. Seriously I felt like a wrecked ball as I slumbered into my sleep absolutely shattered after no sleep the night before. I do not remember the walk to work, although it lasted about 15 or 20 minutes I was so tired i think I have some sort of amnesia. However work has a way of reminding you of all the bad things and I was there and it reminded me.
I did manage to get out for a lunchtime walk around the stations and a bit further just to wake myself up.
At 2.00 p.m. though I had a call with some techie guys and after telling everyone what I needed from the call the techies started to discuss. All the techie talk sounds like blah blah blah to me and I was starting to drift off, I had to keep chipping in to the conversation but found it so hard to concentrate, and that is just what one night of no sleep can do to you. Imagine if I didn't sleep tonight.
After the call I needed another walk to wake myself up so did a quick lap of the stations. I have worked out that one lap is just short fraction over half a mile in distance which I find nice to know and as it takes about 15 minutes for one lap then that sounds about right at a good pace of walking.
As my laptop is still broken and I need an external screen to make it work I did not leave work until after 6.30 p.m. as I cannot do any work at the hotel so need to get it all done before I leave. But I did make sure I left at a reasonable time so followed my Wigan colleague out of the building and walked with him whilst he went back to his hotel to collected his bag before he left for the station and his journey home. How I wished I was going also, not with him but back to my own home. By now I was so tired.
I had arranged to meet my boss in the hotel to have dinner as I decided I could not venture out tonight and promised myself an early night.
I got to my room at just before 7.00 p.m. and as I had an hour to wait for dinner enjoyed a few minutes laid on the bed attempting the crossword from the evening paper. Amazing how when I am tired I do just a few clues and seem to be able to do no more.
Eight o'clock came and i ventured to the reception to wait for the boss and was just starting to watch the football in teh bar when he text to say he would be late. Still, it gave me time to watch Manchester City score and then conceded a goal before he finally arrived and we proceeded to the dining hall.
I treated myself to a cumberland sausage and mash but was amazed to see that it came with no veg which was a little disappointing.
My boss and I had a nice chat whilst we ate and not only about work, so it made it a nice relaxing night that I enjoyed.
I hit the room at 10:00 p.m. and tried to do a bit more of the crossword only to find me waking up at 11.30 p.m. I turned out the light and turned over and slept soundly until the alarm at 6.30 a.m.
I felt so refreshed this morning that I felt it was a day for fresh socks.
