Day 51 - All the way from Mars

Another Tuesday and another very busy day.  First of all it was a beautiful day down in London, I arrived in the capital at 11:10 a.m. and despite working only around 200 yards from Kings Cross Station, that walk across Pancras Square was a very warm one and I wished already I could get out and have a stroll.  But it was not to be and work beconed.  The day did allow one quick walk around the stations and only one as I wanted to be off by 5.00 p.m. as tonight we had the lecture, Hunting for Meteorites in the Arctic.  I had a meeting from 4.00 till 5.00 p.m. and that meant as soon as the meeting had finished it was time to rush out of the door, walk as fast as I could to Russell Square and throw my things into the room before hitting the tube to Green Park and then a short walk to the Royal Astronomical Society at which I arrived at 5.45 p.m. so did really well.  I was soon joined by my Nottingham colleague and then with still 10 minutes before the lecture was due to start my Wigan colleague arrived.  We entered the lecture hall which was much smaller than the previous ones had been and understandable that we needed to get tickets, albeit they were free, in advance.  It is a good job our Wigan colleague had sorted all that for us.
In short the lecutre was the best I have attended, it was interesting, the lecturer was passionate about the subject and made a very good presentation.  Below are a few photographs which I took of the meteorites she had brought with her for viewing.  To think these rocks had been proved to have come from the moon and Mars as well as from passing Astroids, it really was amazing.

This one has been proved to be the oldest ever found and even older than the planet Jupiter.

A view of the room, it did fill up a lot more before it started

As the lecture came to an end there were plenty of people who asked questions which showed how interesting people had been with the information on offer.  They also have a lecture in June on the topic of The Search for Life on other Planets.  I really want to see that one.
We left the lecture hall all happy and hyper and took a stroll along Saville Row toward Leicester Square and our destination of China Town.  Even our happiness did not cause the rush expenditure of a posh suit.
On the recommendation of our Nottingham Colleague we found a particular Chinese Restaurant he was looking for and I once again enjoyed Lemon Chicken and Rice.  I am afraid I am not too adventurous when it comes to Chinese and it normally has to consist of Chicken and there will be rice also there somewhere.  However I am not knocking it and it was very nice Lemon Chicken and enjoyed fully.  We left the restaurant and headed north back to Tottenham Court Road before finding a pub en route back to the hotel for a quick refresher in the warm evening air and joking apart it was a very warm evening.  So much so that the walk back to the hotel saw me depart form my colleagues as they stay at a different place to me and I managed to take the wrong road and end up nearly back at Euston Road before having to double back to the hotel.  It mattered not, as it gave me more time to walk the dinner off and added to my steps which totalled.20,037 steps for the day which was pretty good if I do say so myself.
